Look for a crack on the seam of the drum, right at the front or rear of the drum.

Noisy, almost like it is turning over a bump in the road, a constant bump, bump, bump while rotating. The heater and blower seem to be working OK

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE STARTING ANY REPAIRS
Your problem sounds like drum rollers have flat spots on them or in need of lubrication. If you have a front loading machine, Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer. Be REAL CAREFUL not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch. Then remove the top of the dryer. Remove the front of the dryer. This will expose the drum and belt. Remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm pulley and motor. Now is a good time to check the belt condition for wear. Be sure to note the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go to reinstall the belt. Check your drum rollers for flat spots or wear, if they have flat spots or wear on them replace them. If the drum rollers don't have flat spots or wear on them then they probably only need lubrication. Lubricate the shaft of the rollers with a good grade of machine oil such as 3 in One oil. Reassemble the dryer, plug back in. This should solve your noise problem. I will include these two websites for parts and further help: http://www.partselect.com/ http://www.appliancepartspros.com/index.aspx Both also have chat assistance 24/7. The dryer (Bosch Nexxt 500) makes a loud grinding noise when rotating. Any idea what this may be?

The noise could be your drum rollers need lubricant or replacement.
When the drum rollers get flat spots on them they will make a bumping/thumping type of noise.
The grinding noise sounds to me like the drum rollers are in need of lubrication.

My new dryer thumps every revolution

Flat spots on the support rollers from sitting in storage will make a thump. So will heavy wet clothes if they are not spun dry enough from the washer. This may lessen as the unit is used but since it is in warranty a service call to rule out major problems is in order.

Inglis Citation dryer still squeaks

just an idea.....try to match the squeak to the revolutions of the drum or the guide pulley.
if the squeak is fast it is probably a guide pulley or a roller that the drum rides on. if the squeak is farther apart then the drum is wearing in one spot and rubbing on something. check for wear spots around the drum area.
hope this helps.........jay

Bumping noise

Just had the same provlem and the drum is in the back of my truck. Open the door and manually turn the drum slowly until you hear the thump. Look at the seam that runs along the baffle and pay attention the seam near the raer and see if it separates when you hear the noise. A common problem is the weld breaks and you will need to replace the drum or take it out to have re-welded unless it is still under the year warrant which I am guessing it is not. Don't even try to call LG because they will not help in any fahion.

LG ELECTRIC DRYER

Henry, its going to be 1 of 2 things. Check inside your drum, see if the vent in the rear has burning or discoloration around it. If it does, it sounds as if your vent is restricted causing the unit to overheat, so clean/fix/replace the venting and your support pulleys will need to be repalce ie flat spots from overheat. If there is no scoarching marks and you know its not the vent or heat issue, the drum seam may have parted causing the thump as every revolution is made.
