Can't connect to the internet with my Airport Express

I'm using a cable modem. The communication between the device and my computer is working fine. I can even use it as a link between my computer and sound system. Even though the light is green (which is supposed to mean that the internet conncetion is working fine), I can't get on the internet. When I plug the cable directly to my computer, the connection is fine. My airport connexion is set to DHCP (automatic) just like my ethernet connection used to be. HAs anyone ever experienced a similar problem?

Make sure your network settings are set to DHCP manually and that you are getting an IP address that does NOT start with 169.258

If you are using a Windows PC you may have to use the ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew to refresh your DHCP settings.

Also try using the Airport utility (located in the Utilities folder) if you have a Mac. It will tell you if there is an issue.

From my reading at the Apple support web site, it appears that you may need to download the latest version of the Airport Utility in order to get around this issue.
Additionally, Apple has just recently come up with an update to the firmware for this device.
Try downloading the latest version of the Airport Utility (Mac or Windows) and see if that doesn't resolve the issue.
After installing the latest version of the Airport Utility, try to connect to the Airport Express. If that is successful with the new version, click the "Manual Setup" button to display the "Summary" page for the Airport Express.
Next to the entry for "Version:" there should be a button to press to upgrade the firmware to the latest version (7.5.2). Perform the upgrade by following the on screen directions.
After the upgrade, again attempt to connect to the Airport Express using the Airport Utility. This should work as expected.
Before attempting to use the AirTunes (recently renamed "AirPlay"), make sure that you have the latest version of iTunes installed.

Attempting to connect new Acer netbook to existing Mac network

Had the same problem. What i did was in the Airport Configuration program goto "Airport" then to "Wireless" and then to "Wirelesee options" In this menu deselect "Use wide channels". Also i decreased the power of the 5.0 Ghz transmission, because i don't use it yet. But i think the "Wide channels" is the reason of the problem. It is a bit weird thoug, on my Airports Guest acount with no password and incryption, the Acer One loged on perfectly, but on my private network with WPA2 it did not. Aparantly the Guest network does not use "Wide Channels" Hope this helps, but take care, maybe the menu's are called differendly because i had to translate them from Dutch. Good luck.

Not able to connect to internet via airport express

Have you checked your system preferences, network settings? You have to tell the mac to use airport or ethernet. It may be setup to use the hard wire and not airport. You should see a link to turn on airport in the upper right corner of your screen. I think you can turn airport on there.

I can't connect apple airport expresses with a siemens 587 route

Login to your airport express using Apple's airport utilities (either in it's current configuration or after resetting it).

Using the airport utility do not choose manual setup, just select continue.

Adjust (as required) the airport express station name and password and select continue.

Select "I have a wireless network and I want to add AirPort Express or replace an existing device on my network and select continue.

Select I want Airport Express to wireless join my current network and select continue.

Choose if you want to extent the rance of your network or just join the network and select continue.

Choose the network you wish to join... etc etc etc....

You should be fine.

Apple extreme bridged to apple extreme (Windows network)

Hi,
OK, do you have the latest version of Apple's Airport Utility: Version 5.4.1 (541.9) ?
If you don't, get it... it's got an excellent interface that will walk you through bridging two wireless routers together.
Once you get your hands on it, you will need to choose which airport will be the primary and which will be the secondary. Ideally, pick the one connected to the highest speed and most reliable internet access.
Connect to the secondary airport and configure it as bridge to the primary, the Airport Utility will walk you through it step by step.

New Apple Airport Express Base station blinking amber light

Using the Airport utility on your macbook (located in your Utilities folder) will tell you what the conflict is.....most likely you have DHCP issue or the network is at the incorrect setting.
The wizard in the utility will tell you what you should fix.

Cant connect to internet with Airport Extreme 802.11n

An airport extreme is just a dunb Wireless Access Point. It could be that it has been mated to the Linksys router and is looking at a different set if IP addresses that are not coming from the etherent connection out of the wall.

If you know how to obtain network addresses on your computer, find out what you get from the wall jack and from the airport through the Linksys. You can try to reset and reconfigure the Airport, but if you are not familiar with the hardware, get someone who is to help you. The manual offers several tips and procedures to do this http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/AirPortExtremeBaseStationSetupGuide.pdf
