Question about Samsung Digimax S500 Digital Camera

How do you remove the security or "protection"?

Recently, I was just playing with my camera and exploring the options and stuff, and I think that I tured that "securitty or protection" option, and each time I turn off my camera since then, it won't turn back on until more than 2 hours or something like that have passed... It works perfectly when it's on, but I just can't find a way how to get it back to the old stage, when you can turn if off and on as many times as you want? Thank you! DUSAN

Re: How do you remove the security or "protection"?

Check out the Full manual which is a PDF file on the software disk - so you will have to load it into a computer to read it. If this is not possible then Samsung customer support may help.

How to unlock a photo in camara

The protect function allows a user to protect a picture from accidental deletion. To unprotect a picture on your camera, scroll to the protected picture that you want to delete, then press the Menu button (the button to the right of the Play button.) Scroll down the menu and you should come to an option that allows you to Protect/Unprotect the picture. Since your picture is currently protected, deselect that option. You should then be able to delete the picture normally.

Alternatively, you could also format the memory card, however this deletes ALL photos and data you have on the memory card. If you are trying to completely clear the memory, this is the best way. After turning on your camera, simply press the Menu button, scroll to Setup, then scroll down to Format. Select Format, it will ask you if you want to format the memory card, or the camera's built-in memory. Format whichever one you want to clear, if you are using a memory card then your pictures are stored on the memory card. It will take a few seconds to format.

Hope this helps.

I cannot get the camera to erase, or delete all imiges. It pops back to protected, or busy. What am I doing wrong? I have erased before with no problem, but not now. I have messed with everything on it I...

Sometimes SD cards have locks on the back of them. I cant say this will fix your problem, but if the memory card is locked it will not allow you to delete the photos. If the photos are on your camera's memory, try playing with the options and see if they are protected for any miscellaneous reason.

Will not take picture

1) Take the card out of the camera, check about half way up on the left hand side there may be a small sliding notch, slide it to wrtie enable and re-incert it in your camera.

2) If 1 didn't work, there's also a photo protect option in you camer menu, ensure that is also off.

Can't delete a photo off my memory card.

you should have turned on the protection status on while taking pictures by default. to switch of this status all you have to do is in the preview mode of the camera select that particular picture. now press the menu button. you can see a variety of options there. in those there is an option protection status of "protect this photo". you can turn it off there.

Memory card

There is a catch inside the camera that is possibly out of whack. You need to make sure the camera itself is not moving the security slider on the memory card. This would be due to puting the card in wrong or just from wear on the camera.

Try securing switch on memory card to write position with either tape etc. Make sure not to get ape stuck in slot so don't use too much.

Sony DSC-H5 Cybershot write protection

Camera has a "protection" option for the pictures. maybe it;s active. Put camera on "playback" mode and check the available menus. Also, I guess your camera came with a manual. Read it!
