Question about Panasonic SC-HT940 System

Tray won't open!

When I turn on my SA-HT900 I get the usual HELLO, then TRAY INIT message and then PLEASE WAIT. Nothing then happens and the WAIT message remains on the display. I have turned off and on again a number of times with the same outcome. Can anybody help?

Hi, not being too familiar with this model ( i.e. whether a single disc or 5 disc changer). it sounds like the CD player section is trying to find home position and will not continue until it has done so. It is very likely that there is a disc in the mechanism and depending how competent you are with a screwdriver, you may be able to release the disc either by removing the top cover or check on the underside of the machineto see if there is a hole in the bottom where you can wind the cd mechanism to the eject position.

Sony dvd player mhc-gn1200d is the model. placed cd inside then a message appears "please wait" but nothing is happening. umplugged and plugged it, same message appears and cd tray won't open. what will I...

Sounds like you'll have to use the manual release to open the tray.

Turn the unit off.
There should be a small hole just under the tray, unbend a paper clip and push it in the hole, the tray will come out part way, it can then be pulled out by hand to retreive your cd.

Reclose the tray and turn on the unit. If it now functions normally, the problem was most likely the cd, but I would still use a laser cleaning disc just to make sure the lens is clean.

I had the same problem on my SA-HT900 after my three year old played around with it. I switched off the DVD and turned off the mains completely. When I switched the mains on again, the DVD just started working. Hope it works for you.

Panasonic SA-HT680 Home theater problem

Try these steps to reset the unit. I got these from the Panasonic Cust. Service # 1800-211-7262
1. Unplug the unit power.
2. Wait 2-3 mins before replugging the unit.
3. Turn it on.
4. If the display shows INIT / PLEASE WAIT, Press and HOLD the Tune Mode (STOP) button on the main unit. At the same time press #10 (Channel button) in the remote control. They have to be pressed & held simultaneously for atleast 5 seconds. Wait till the INIT / Please Wait display disappears.
5. Once the message disappears, RESTART the main unit by pressing the POWER button OFF / ON.
6. If it does not work, try several times. If it does not work, contact a local repair shop (call them to find out a repair shop near you). If the repair shop wont do it for you, call them back - thats what they told me.

Unit says Init Please Wait

I've just spent the last 3 nights trying to fix that same issue with my player. I ended up pulling out the dvd tray assembly, and making sure there wasn't anything broken inside or obstructing other pieces. Come to find out, my 1 year old had pulled on one of the trays and it pulled the tray off it's tracks. After that, it would just go to "init please wait" forever. I pulled the side track cover off and aligned the tracks manually. Everything had to be absolutely perfect or else you'd get nothing. After the fact, I realized that there were two holes in the bottom of the player that you can take a spare small gear (which is attached to the plastic cover on top of the dvd tray assembly) and stick it in there and manually adjust the tray positions to make sure everything is aligned properly. After messing with it three days, it ended up being quite simple to fix. Everything works like a charm now. If you need details, feel free to email me.

Disc tray 1 is blinking with 2 ovals around it, tray not in right Panasonic SA-HT680

I had a jammed disc that was causing this same error message. To remove the jammed disc, remove the top by removing the screws and then you can remove the stuck/jammed discs. For the Panasonic SC-PT750 there are 7 screws, three small silver ones on the back, then 4 black ones, two on each side, all philips head. Once you have that off, gently pry it off starting from the back, the cover is actually hinged into the front plastic piece of the player.
