Altec Lansing ACS400 (Desk top stereo/Dolby Digital speaker & Sub, circa 1995) [right speaker] does not work; how can I fix it?

realistically, I would say they've had their time, and it would not be worth repairing. it could be more than just the speaker that blew, parts for desktop speaker systems are almost nonexistant unless you know you're way around jury-rigging electronics. Plus, there are quite a few new sets out there that would be superior to what the ACS400 puts out, for decent pricings.
I myself am a big advocate of the Logitech THX-certified product lines- they have excellent bass, crystal clear sound, and are great value for the money.

I cant install them?

The CA-2016 desktop 2-piece system it is a USB powered amplifier that draws the power through a USB cable. No batteries or AC power source/wires are required which leaves the desk top clean. The speaker system is magnetically shielded and has a LED power indicator. This being said setup the speakers plug in the USB cable, notice if the LED power indictor light is on. Adjust volume control on speakers and on your computer ( make sure your not muted ). PC's have a lot of different media players that can and will effect the volume control so if one or more of those items are adjusted to low volume or muted, there will be little to no output to your speakers.

I recently installed Windows 7 and my Boston BA745 speakers will not work. I'm looking for driver or other solutions.

1) Try the portable player test. Unplug the speakers from the computer and plug them into the headphone output of a portable-type stereo product. This test should produce sound. If it does the problem is most likely in the soundcard, or in your internal volume settings. You should contact your computer's support group for further help in those areas.

2) Is the green power light illuminated? If not, you could have one of two possible causes. The first and less serious issue is that the power supply is not outputting the correct voltage. You can test the power supply with a voltage meter or you can always take the power supply to any electronics store and have it checked there. If it is not outputting the correct voltage (12VAC), contact our parts department for a new one at (978) 538-5136.

If the power supply is working properly, then your problem is most likely in the amplifier. In this case, we will need to fix your system here, and you can contact customer service at the above phone number to set this up.

3) If the system is connected properly and you have a green subwoofer light, disconnect the power supply from the wall for 10 minutes. This is a common problem on overloaded surge protectors. To many devices on the same surge protector can limit available power. Putting your speaker system on its own circuit (or a more dedicated one) should eliminate this problem.

4) Check the bass level on the back of your subwoofer, (or on your desktop control pod. For best subwoofer performance place the woofer on the floor along a wall or better still in a corner. This "corner loading" will increase bass output.

I bought my speakers in the states, but pluged them in over here in Korea. I know the voltage is different over here. Now, when i plug the speakers in, nothing happens. How can I fix this matter without...

the power supply from the state side has two ratings looks something like

input
120V ac

output
XV dc XXX mA

that out put line is what your looking for you can purchase a universal adapter locally as long as its able supply the Voltage out from the state side wall adapter.

I have Bose® Companion® 2 Series I computer speakers. I need to replace the adapater and want to know if speakers accept +ve or -ve polarity voltage. Thanks!

Each device is different.
If the receptacle for the plug is not marked, you have few options.
I suggest the following.
Go buy the exact same setup from a store you can easily return it to.
Take the whole box to Radio Shack and explain that you need a power supply to replace the power supply in the box. They will sell you one, plug and all, for about $10-15.
If you have a DVM (Digital Volt Meter), you can check the voltage and polarity yourself, and buy what you need, test it out, and install it.

Want to use old desk top computer speakers with laptop

The headphone jacks on laptops do not provide a DC voltage to your speakers only a low powered audio output that will not provide enough power to drive most desktop speakers. If you want to do this you will probably need to get a set of speakers with an external power source. Then it should work fine(providing a headset does work in that jack).

Packard Bell (160248-01) Computer Speakers with a 12 volt power source worked OK,

Tried a 9 volt and it also worked.

This pair of speakers is grey with a barrel design. The mounting surface placed flat is approximately 10.25 inches by 3.75 inches. Each end has a rainbow design with a depth of 2.75 inches. By placing with the mounting surface flat on your desk gives you an out of the floor design. The front edge from the desk to the bottom edge is 1.5 from the surface to the top edge with a 3.75 inch. Suggesting you may mount them under your desk, on the side by your legs or stand them on each side of your screen.

I am told they come in white and black also I found them rather large for what I need but your decision is you should be happy before buying a pair.

Altec Lansing In Motion Power Supply

Look on your power supply for the output voltage and amperage. It should say something like "Output: 9V DC 500mA". With this information you only need to get one with the same plug.
When you do please post the answer because I have the MLI699 speakers and don't know what power supply is needed.
