You need the small round chrome connector which screws onto the cable wire then you push it onto the back of the box. Also a scart lead from the box to the tv then just plug the box in as normal.Thats it .If you dont have the chrome connector you can buy one from any cable company which sells these boxes or a shop called Maplins which sells most electric stuff.

the memory stick in the USB port at the back of the receiver. Then press the menu button on the remote there you will see USB at the bottom of the screen.
Just highlight USB with the remote then you will see the (Box Super USB Bin file) appear on the screen.
Highlight "theboxsuperusb_v1.01_beta" with the remote and press the
ok button then you will see the file start loading in to the Box. Once that is complete, do that again but with the "TheBoxSuperUSB_BG_LOGO_080904" file.
Once that is done,
• Turn on the box, press menu and go to installation,
• Select correct provider i.e. NTL, C/W or TW

Updating Firmw@re SV 1/2/3
Connect your box and PC with a Null modem cable and switch on the cable box and put it on STANDBY.
(The Starvi*w does not need to be connected to TV to update it with GTROM)
Open GTROM Loader software make sure that you set the correct COM PORT that matches the one that is being used
Make sure App file only is selected, then click b1n File & browse to the firmw@re where you downloaded it to on your PC.
Run the GTROM loader by pressing Download and you will see the % progress increase then Download completed message on your PC.
Wait until you see the DOWNLOAD COMPLETE p0p up on your PC before removing the NULL MODEM CABLE.
The Starvi*w will then reboot
Disconnect from PC and connect back up to the TV :)
bernice, your pc must have an AUDIO AND VIDEO in. Visit your computer store and ask about this. Starview box only has a scart and audio video out, so you must have an INPUT in your pc. But if your just want to RECORD something coming from the box, you need DIGITAL CAMERA which has an AUDIO VIDEO INPUT and that's where you can record, and then transfer it to your pc.
Just log on to BigmaQ and download the Chatterbox.cc toolbar.Once downloaded go to the big key on toolbar and all codes for all areas are there including Ireland.Remamber, if your area was origanaly C&W then its those codes you must enter. If you have lost any data like EPG then go to fixes & files and all repair downloads are there. Make sure you know which box you have because loading the wrong firmware will render your box useless. If you have the old box 1 or 2, this refers to the number of scart sockets on box.
On laptops there is usually a soft switch to change the way video output is routed. The keypad should have an "FN" key on it (blue lettering mostly on the lower left of keyboard). Also look for one of the "F" keys (F1, F2, etc) to have an icon for a screen/blank screen. Hold done the FN while hitting the appropriate F key. The way it normally goes each time you press - laptop LCD only, VGA output, both, off. Sometimes just first 3 or the order may be different. When just VGA enabled or off the laptop screen will be blank.
When using a KVM switch, you must have the VGA ouput enabled from the laptop.
More info please, laptop, desktop, cable-modem, or dial-up, brand of computer is usefull too. If cable modem, use a LAN cable(LOCAL AREA NETWORK) it looks similar to a phone cord, and plugs into the back of a desktop, or side of a laptop.
For more than 1 computer, you'll need a router of some kind.
Internal dial-up modems are a whole nother thing, if you need one of these you may want to take it somewhere and have a pro put it in, especially if its a laptop.
