Question about HP Pavilion dv8000z Notebook
For all of you that are havin problem wit media test type failre, there's a website posted to help deal wit this kind of problem. I have typed in Google media test type failure, and I have gotten two websites with some good explaination to this problem. Here's the two website I have run across www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000706.htm and www.nocrash.com/ncbbs/msgs/3247.shtml. They explain the issue as having to be a problem wit incorrect Bios configuration or a bad hard drive. I'm thinkin this could also be triggerd by incorrect configuration of the jumper. Meaning, the CD-ROM nor the Hard Drive isn't setup. I somehow, found that if u select both to Cable Select on seperate ide cable. It won't trigger this msg. But if you're runnin' it off a single cable. The first have to be set to Master while the last one set to Cable Select.

You removed the original harddrive... Did you think that magically the computer would have your operating system on it without the original harddrive in place?
The error is telling you that there is no Operating system, The network card would be the last spot the Bios would check for a bootable link.
Put the old harrdrive back in before you hurt it more and bring the laptop and new drive to a professional to have the upgrade performed properly.

SOURCE: windows dont come up.
I had this happen to me before with an IBM laptop. I bought a new hard drive, reinstalled a fresh OS, and had no more problems after that. I also went right to ibm website and did all the updates, as well as all the microsoft updates. So my same problem as your ended up being a bad hard drive. maybe check into that?.
