Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console

1 Answer

Menu doesn't come up.

My PS3 froze during an on-line game, so I had to switch the console off and on again. Now, when I turn on the console the menu doesn't come up and the only thing that does is that wave thing. PLEASE HELP.

With the system on standby, hold the power button until the third beep. The system will turn on with the first beep, reset the settings with the second beep, and then turn off again with the third beep. Repeat this process and you will hear a double-beep at the end and the system will stay on and it will tell you to connect a controller via the USB cable.

This will bring you to the recovery menu. Try rebuilding the database or restoring the file system.

The play station turns on but the menu is not coming up. The wave line is on the screen of the TV

Same problem just happened to me. Playing a game and the game froze. Sat there in shock for about 10 to 15 seconds and the screen went black. Shut it off. Now every time I go to turn it back on again it starts up, I get the PS3 logo and then the blue wave starts. About 5 seconds after that the wave starts to lag and then nothing.... Stays on the lagging blue wave screen... THIS BLOWS!!!!!!!!!!!

My ps3 froze up during system update

You could try accessing the recovery menu, then try a system restore or another of the options on there. You should be able to format it which should fix it, if it's just a software / firmware issue.

* Turn off ps3
* hold power button down - system will turn on and off again
* re-press button until you hear two beeps
* take finger off power button after second beep
* it'll ask you to plug your controller in with usb and press the ps button
* the recovery menu should now show up

If this doesn't work then that means the mainboard is bad and would need to be replaced.

youu could try to take a card of some kind. put it about half way in the game spot. then blow in the gap between the card and the black rubber on the ps3. It may build up dust. also try restoring

If your PS3 is not reading disc, but can play demos, music, etc. You need to replace your PS3's lens.
