First of all, on my Dell Studio 17 laptop I am using the software of Dell Media Direct to play BR's or DVD's. First only the DVD's were played. When inserting a BR disk the software made notice of essential software updates especially for playing BR's. So via the 'settings' of this program I have downloaded an update and now it works perfect! Tomorrow I wil try out the HDMI connection with my Sony full HD flatscreen.

Looking for solutions on error 0122 on the www its seems that a lot of people suffer from this problem. Many possible solutions are mentioned, so far however I didn't need them.

For the time being I am content that it is working on my laptop.

I have the same problem and was on the phone will Dell Support 3 hours last night and they could not resolve the problem, they finally gave up and told me they would call me back in an hour with a resolution and would have my problem fixed, that was 14 hours ago, and still no call back, I'm assuming they cannot resolve the issue (so much for their 24/7 support. Can anyone help, I have a new Dell Studio 17" Laptop getting error code 0122, all drivers and software are updated. Cannot watch Bluray disk TV using HDMI cables.

The error message makes it sound like there is something wrong with your connection or the display device you are playing the disc on.

From what I know, Blu-ray content will only play with a BD player, with secure connectors (usually HDMI) and on an HD Device. I have a feeling it may be with your connectors.

Can you give us some detail on your whole setup? Display device, connectors, etc.

That is a display error code. Either the graphics card cannot support something you are trying to do or the drivers need updating.

I had the same problem when attempting to play BR disks. Neither of the two previous solutions seem to work for me. I have managed to fix this by changing the display settings within the Graphic card set up (have ATI Radeon HD 3650).
1. Right-click on display, choose Graphic Card properties
2. Go to Displays Manager, Display Properties
3. If connected via HDMI to TV, you should see a Main and Cloned display. Drag laptop display to box beneath called: Attached displays currently disabled.
4. Display on laptop should turn off, and remain on TV. Your display is no-longer cloned. Click OK.

After these changes, my disks play OK (ish - another problem).
Hope this helps.

Can you tell what the bluescreen message is?
Can you please capture the 0x0000000 error code.
one thing you can try is to remove the memory sticks (RAM) of the computer and then put it back in and start the computer again.
If you have 2 try them one by one.

Hdcp error mesage when connected to my freeview hd box.

What is a HDCP error? Here is a real life situation that happened that could happen to you. You just bought a Blu-ray Disc Player and connected it to your older HDTV with a HDMI cable. When you tried playing a Blu-ray disc a HDCP error was shown on the screen. The movie wouldn't play.
This is a known issue with HDCP, and it's one of the biggest hassles consumers will have to deal with when utilizing a HDMI cable on their HDTV. You will get a HDCP error if you try watching HDCP encoded content when using a HDMI cable.
The problem is that if HDCP exists anywhere in the video stream then all devices and cables accessing this content must be HDCP compliant. If one device or cable isn't HDCP compliant then you get a HDCP error.
The only solution is to either replace the HDMI cable with a non-digital cable or replace the HDCP-less device. This could mean buying a new HDTV. In fact, I worked with a reader last year troubleshooting a HDCP error on his TV. What happened is that he bought a Blu-ray Disc Player and connected everything properly only to get a HDCP error. After a few emails back and forth we discovered that his HDTV wasn't HDCP compatible, which is why he got the HDCP error.
The reader ended up buying a newer HDTV with HDCP, and his Blu-ray Disc Player worked perfectly with HDMI cables.

I have a Dell Studio 1735 laptop, and recently the dvd drive sounds very scratchy when it spins. Yesterday it stopped reading the disc, but refuses to eject it. I'm trying to figure out how to get my...

Sorry, the optical unit has died. Don't even bother taking the disk out, it has been damaged anyway. Take apart the laptop and replace the dvd unit . If you have enough money you can even upgrade it to blu-ray.

Error code 0122 when trying to play blue ray disk on hdtv through hdmi cable

Hy guys

I had this problem earlier on today and after much searching found a solution that worked for me.

This error message relates to piracy issues. If you are running 2 screens at once (laptop monitor and HD TV) I guess it's seen as an easy way to pirate DVD's, Blu-rays etc.

Go into your graphics card settings (i think I did this in the end by adusting screen resolution (was hungover, there's probably a quicker way - this gave me access to my ATI graphics card settings). you should be given an option of taking your HD TV as the primary monitor and disabling the built in monitor.

This should resolve the conflict that caused the 0122 error message - there are no longer 2 monitors, I guess making it harder for the pirates to comoplete their dastardly deeds - aaaarrrr.

I hope this helps some peeps out - thought I'd return the favour for my own various questions.
