Question about Sony SDM-HS73P 17" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

G board Where did you find this g board thing? I fix loads of Sony 19'' and 17'' , and they have inverter, when they are like this , it is either the inverter, the lamp, or the connector. I think the problem became quite confused here. Thanks.

I know, I was the one generating confusion, now everything is clear.

The inverter had been designed on same board as psu, and that is called G board, not a very bright idea by sony engineers.

good luck all with the user.

I have a 2009 Sharp Aquos 55 inch HD tv. Will only play for a minute or two then shuts off and starts back up. Will turn on and off indefinitely until I shut it off with my remote. How do I fix it?

This is an indication that the power supply cannot deal with something that is putting a load on it. It could also be the power supply itself. If you want to try and see what it is, take the set apart. But you must be very careful with a screen that big. Inside you will see the power board, the inverter, the t-con board and main and or control boards. The first thing to try is locate the inverter and unplug it from the power board. If the set turns on and remains on then the inverter is bad. If not then the power board is bad.

Tv fix picture screen went out sound is ok sony bravia lcd digital model kdl-40s2010 help

Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.

Some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement.

My Sony VAIO Laptop screen is black. It worked fine, no issues2 days ago. Went to turn it on last night and it is black.. When light hits at a certain angle, I can see the desktop, I can hear the startup...

A faint and barely visible image on the screen indicates that the backlight(s) that illuminates the display isn't powering on. A device called an inverter board takes DC power from the laptop motherboard and converts it to AC power to power the screen backlight.
Before attempting anything below, be sure and remove the laptop battery and unplug the laptop
You need to take the screen apart and check to make sure that no cables are loose that are connected to the inverter board. If everything is secure, the next thing I would do is try to test the inverter board by hooking up an LCD from another laptop to the inverter and turning the laptop on to see if it lights up. If the other screen does light up, then the inverter board is likely good and your backlight needs to be replaced. Backlight replacement, unfortunately, can be very tricky for even an experienced technician, and many will opt to just replace the entire screen.
If you can't test the inverter board, then it might be worth it to order one and see if installing it fixes the problem.

Blink on standby green after awhile then blink red

The blinking green light signals that the inverter board is charging the bulb. If the blinking goes to red it means that this process has failed because either the inverter board is not full operational or the bulb itself has failed.
Most likely you will have to replace the bulb - here it is

If this doesn't fix it then you will have to check the inverter and power boards and replace the failing one.
Here is the ballast/inverter

SONY VAIO PCG FRV27 I power on the laptop and the screen shows up but its very dark i adjusted contrast but it is not very visible

Diagnosis:
1. Test using an external monitor. If it works, then either the screen bulb or the inverter board might be defective.
2. Test the inverter. Easiest way to do it if you have a good screen with a good bulb. Connect the good screen to the inverter board & test it. If it lights up, then the inverter board is good. If it did not, then the inverter board is bad & needs to be replaced.
3. If the inverter board is good, then we are left with the possibility that the screen bulb is bad. To fix this, we will need to replace the LCD screen

Hello!Sony SDM-HS73 power-inverter problem

At this point you may have bad transformers, bad tuning cap, you need to check the frequency of the inverter oscillator to see if both of them are running at the same frequency, the bad one may not be. The Inverter/power supply is not made by SONY, Powernet makes the board. Please see what went wrong with the one I fixed.

One thing to keep in mind, when the board turn into carbon (blacken), it will conduct. The circuits operate at high voltage and high frequency.

My Sony LCD TV has audio but no video

Seems like your time-control board a.k.a. (LCD BOARD) is defective or the power supply board is not producing working dc voltage too the inverters. In that case the power board would need servicing. It could also be the CCFL lamps but thats very rare. See if the inverters are working by only disconnecting the wire(s) going from the inverter too the lcd-board. If the lights come on after you disconnect the lcd-board from the inverter then you know its the LCD board thats the fault here.

Sony bravia KDL40S2000 standby blink four times

A 4 flash issue means either the back light inverter (power supply) has failed or that one of the fluorescent tubes in the panel has failed. The only way to know for sure is to check the fuses that are on the inverter board. If one or more of the fuses are opne, then it is likely the inverter board is bad. If the fuses all check good, then the panel is at fault. If it is the inverter board, it is a part you could replace yourself; the cost of the board is about $70. If it is the panel, you would probably want to consider replacing the TV, as the repair costs would be over $1000

TV Problems!

This is usually the high voltage on the inverter, balancer or backlight arcing to the chassis or at the connections. One quick fix was to look for a burn spot under the inverter(s). If that's the case, insulate the chassis at the point of the spot with a few layers of electrical tape 600v dialectric strength or better and carefully clip the leads just above the solder joint on the inverter board to widen the arc gap. If the white pink wire connectors arc too long they will charr requiring replacement. Cost varies depending on the problem.
