Question about Hotpoint TDC32 Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Hotpoint TDC32 keeps switching off after a short while

The dryer turns off after about 10-20 seconds and then may or maynot start when pressing the on button. Could this be the relay, I only ask as there is a spark within the case when the dryer cuts out.

Yes, it sounds like the relay is the prob
It is located at the top behind the console panel.
It is a clear plastic covered box about 3" long, and held in place by 2 screws.
Changing this should solve the prob.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.

When I start dryer it starts but stops as soon as I let off the start switch

Hi.

The normal cause for this is a start relay (Part No:1701624) that has failed.
It sits inside the front panel roughly behind the start button. Its purpose is to keep the machine running when you let go of the button.

Cost is roughlt £26.00

Hope this helps

Most likely, the orange relay switch (Schrack RT314024) on the circuit board of the dryness module (blue colour) is faulty. RS electrics and Farnell has it. Costs £2.50. Mine had the same problem and changing it sorted it. I also replaced all the four small electrolyte capacitors on the circuit board (which you don't have to replace - I am a bit fussy with capacitors).
Your thermostats and heating elements are good (don't change these).

1. see if you have 220 at the plug, the dryer will run on 110 but won't heat.

2. Check the heating coil, it could be broken.
