It sounds like a faulty on off switch, when you turn it on it is not contacting fully, i had this problem with my grandsons ds lite, what i did was unscrew the ds, then looked to see if the push up and down on off switch was fully contacting when switching on, when i took the case off i could turn it on, i just made sure everything was in place and put the case back on, its ok now, i could be the on off switch had dislodged ater time, and just needed re locating, its nothing to do with getting a new battery.
sounds like a fuse has blown. Get it replaced under warranty. even if you have lost reciept its still registed automatically under warrant by its serial number. it can be fixed but no need if you only bought it in december as covered by waranty.
There is a small latch on the connector that may be stuck. Try this. Turn the DS Lite upside down with the charger plug facing away from you. Press down the on the plug gently with your right thumb and with your left hand pull the connect away from the socket. FYI this should be a simple fit! Make sure the connector was not jammed in upside down to start with. It has a clear six sided shape to it!
Replace your touchscreen! Looks like it is stuck on the location of the 'DS Download Play Icon' So when you turn your DS Lite on it automatically tick on that Icon and your Download starts. No way to turn that off untill you disconnect the touchscreen connector from the systemboard or replace it completely
I'd suggest removing and then re-inserting the battery (this should at least switch the power off).
Is the power switch loose? If so it's been broken and needs replacing (not an easy job).
Alternately it could just be stuck in sleep mode which happens when the DS is closed while powered on but should awaken when re-opened.
Are the batteries fully charged?
when the first screen comes on when you first use the power switch and it says at the bottom to touch the screen. Just push the A button. If your DS still shuts off only when you touch the touch screen let us know.
