Question about Apex Digital GB43HD09 43" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television
When I was watching my tv a loud popping noise sounded in what seemed to be the top right corner of my tv. When it would not turn on agian I decided to open it up to look at the fuses. All of the fuses were fine and nothing seemed to be wrong at a glance, but then again i'm no technition. Anyways, I tried to see if anyone was experiencing some similar problems but I couldn't find anything that matched my experience. If you have any ideas what could possibly be wrong do tell, thank you for your time.
SOURCE: convergence and picture problems
This TV probably uses two convergence IC Packs that will need to be replaced and be re-converged. There may also be a resistor or two that may need replacing as well. The projection tubes should last another 3 years or so.

SOURCE: NO SOUND FROM MY APEX GB5108 TV
I had the same problem with mine, it turned out to be a fried audio board. I simply used the audio outputs on the back of the tv to drive a new reciever with surround. Sound a heck of a lot better than the speakers built into the tv.

here is a simple test to know whether to call a technician,...first, check all connection including the antenna or cable lines to your unit.if not, tap the unit for 2 to 4 times.while tapping watch what happens to the picture.if the unit turn on or becomes okay, i suggest to call a tech.it needs resoldering or something inside has loosed contact.

All depending on the models, but i have seen and work on may units with this problem, there are a few large capacitors on the power supply that are sometimes doubly secured with glue, that in turn becomes conductive and causes faults like this. check all the large capacitors for any low or nil readings and with a fine point probe, carefully remove the glue on the and around the caos, and elsewhere if you see any. Good Luck.

SOURCE: Will not converge
hello, the convergence ic's have gone bad in your tv . and sometimes they fail because of a 50 mfd @ 50v capacitor by each ic goes bad. if you have the skill at soldiering and desoldiering you may try repairing it yourself otherwise leave it to a qualified repairman. thanks .....techman...580-243-8025
