Get a flashlight and inspect the inside of the drums in both machines. Look for any damage to the drums or items that are sticking in the drum holes.

DRYER IS MAKING NOISES

A common broblem with dryers and washers alike is the underwire out of womens bras coming out and getting through one of the holes in the drum wich makes a horrible racket. Open the door and use a flashlight to look inside to see if you can see the underwire in one of the holes. They also get stuck in the front seal where the drum rides around this is another good place to look.

Burning smell in in dryer

Take a flashlight and look inside the drum at the holes on the back end of the drum where the hot air comes in. On mine, there is an air deflector on the back side of the drum and the space between this deflector and the drum was packed with lint. The lint blocked about half the holes. I had to take the drum out, remove this deflector by removing four screws inside the drum then cleaning out the lint. The lint was all brown and scorched.

I have a Kenmore 70 Series gas dryer, model 76712691. The dryer has 3 plastic ''tumblers'' inside the dryer, to help the clothes tumble. Two of the tumblers have fallen off inside, leaving big holes inside...

Pull the dryer away from the wall, there is no bottom on the dryer, so the screws should be on the floor.
You can then pop the lid up from the front and fold it back. When you do, you will see the drum. Roll the drum around until you see the holes and reattach the tumblers.
You can also access the drum from below. Tip the dryer on its back and you can see the drum from the bottom.
Good luck.

Kenmore elite HE4

THE AIR FLOW THROUGH THE DRYER BEGINS UP THROUGH THE HEATER AND INTO THE DRUM THROUGH THE HOLES INSIDE THE DRUM TO THE LEFT IN THE REAR.
THESE HOLES ARE METALIC IN COLOR AND MAY SHOW SIGNS OF DISCOLORATION DUE TO THE HEAT OF THE HEATER ASSEBLY. FROM THERE, THE AIR WILL FLOW ACROSS THE CLOTHES AND THROUGH THE LINT FILTER.
IF YOUR LINT FILTER IS LOCATED ON TOP OF THE DRYER,
THE HOLES WILL BE IN THE BACK WALL OF THE DRUM ON THE RIGHT. IF YOUR FILTER IS LOCATED IN THE FRONT OF THE DRUM, THE HOLES WILL BE JUST BELOW IT.

USUALLY, LINT WILL COLLECT DOWN INSIDE THE SPACE WHERE YOU INSERT THE FILTER ON A FRONT LOCATION.
PULL THE FILTER OUT AND LOOK DOWN INSIDE. USE A CENTER CARDBOARD FROM GIFT WRAP TO CLEAN OUT THIS AREA. FLATTEN OUT THE CARDBOARD ROLL AND PUT IT DOWN IN THE SPACE ATTACHING THE OTHER END TO A VACUUM CLEANER HOSE.
ALSO, DISCONNECT THE DUCT WORK FROM THE REAR OF THE DRYER AND CLEAN OUT THE DRYER DUCT AND THE HOUSE HOLD EXHAUST DUCTING. WHEN REATTACHING THE FLEX DUCT TO THE BACK OF THE DRYER, MAKE SURE THERE ISN'T ANY EXCESS FLEX DUCT SNAKING BEHIND THE DRYER. CUT IT TO THE LENGTH NEEDED. MAKE SURE IT ISN'T FLATTENED BETWEEN THE DRYER AND THE WALL WHEN YOU MOVE THE DRYER BACK INTO PLACE.
