I can't see a thing through the eye piece

Is this a reflective telescope? You need to make sure a couple things. Make sure the small mirror is still in place. Usually the eyepiece can be pulled gently out. Make sure no packing material is on the inside of the eye piece.

What does reflect mean

The direction of light can be changed in 2 ways. One way is refraction which is usually done by a lens (eyeglasses do this). The other is reflection, most often done by a mirror. Telescopes are almost always based on reflection and/or refraction designs. A reflective telescope has at least one curved mirror, often 2 curved mirrors which focus light by reflecting a larger area of natural light on a smaller spot.

Is there supposed to be a reflecting mirror on the front part of the telescope? I don't have one. I removed the cap from the front and there is no reflecting mirror. Is that right? Please help.

The mirror is BEHIND the metal "spider" pointed toward the main mirror in the bottom.

When looking thru any eyepiece, all I see is a blur-no matter the focusing adjustment. It's like looking into a fog. Yes, the front cover has been removed. This is driving me nuts. I have followed the...

This is a nice scope.
1. without an eyepiece, look into the eyepiece holder. You should see the secondary mirror and the reflection of the primary mirror in the secondary. If not, carefully align the secondary by either rotating the spider or GENTLY aligning the secondary screws (see collimating the scope in your instruction manual)
2. During the day, point the telescope to an object about 100 yards away, use the lowest power eyepiece (highest number) and see if you can focus on the object.

We've a 600X power edu-science telescope which seems to be missing the inner ring which might be what the instructions call a secondary precision mirror.

The secondary mirror is a small tilted mirror near the front end of the telescope mounted on what's called a "spider". It reflects the light from the large mirror in the bottom back out through the hole in the focuser.

Usually these are already assembled and in place when you buy a reflector style telescope.

When i view a star or small object through my reflecting telescope i can see the reflecting mirror in front of the image. this does not happen when viewing the moon.

You may need to realign the mirrors and the view piece. You can look at the mirror from the front and your eyeball should ne centered.

Bushmaster 8 inch reflector fine mirror scratches

No they cannot be removed. The mirror would need to be recoated, which is too expensive for your scope.

However, tiny scratches probably will not affect your view through the telescope. (maybe)

My problem is i just simply do not know how to set up the telescope

with the 3 screws that are in the later or primary mirror in the external part you can adjust it, centering their reflection in the finder but without lens
