It appears your timer/controller has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question

I'm not familiar with roper washing machines so I'll ask the question does it have two fill hoses. Most European machines now only have one fill. If it has two then it sound like the machine takes the initial water from the one fill and the rinse cycle water from another. The humming sounds like the valve for the other fill needs replacing. These are quite inexpensive and easy to fit. Power off.. remove lid ....switch of water...take out valve when you establish which one is affected and replace

From the closed position lift the lid of the washer about 2'' and listen for a distinct click. Then set lid back down and should hear another click just before it closes. The wire form hinge on left side of lid actuates the lid switch. Is it broken? Let me know.

My washing machine hums and does not start it's cycle.

Possible that the INLET VALVE is humming and the valve is blocked or jammed . You can remove the outlet from the inlet valve and check if there is water flow If not tap on the valve with a soft hammer. It might release the valve and allow the flow, check also the water at the inlet and if the filter at the inlet is clogged.

Washing machine wont fill with water, just hums. Spin works fine, just wont fill with water.

The humming noise is caused by the water valve solenoids trying to open. You will need to remove the hoses from the back of the machine and see if there is any calcium or water deposit on the screens in the water vavles. If there is try cleaning it out and testing, if there is none, the water fill vavle will need to be replaced, you can order parts for it at, Reliable Parts by using your model number. Valve should cost around $45. For information on how to perform your repair, please reply.

GE washing machine does not run, gives humming noise

A washing machine is a simple product.

When trouble shooting anything you have to know what is supposed to do and what is it not doing.

At the begining of a washing machine cycle the machine fills with water until a switch is made telling the machine it is full and ready to agitate. Since it never fills it will stick in that part of the cycle.

When you start a cycle and no water enters the drum you have one of three problems:

1. The water supply is shut off.
2. The solenoid valve that supplies the water is not opening.
3. No power to the washing machine.

Since you are hearing a hum, the machine seems to be trying to activate that valve,
The humming noise comes from the electromagnetic field that activates the valve,
