Sounds like you forgot to use the "safely remove hardware" function once before and now the camera can't be recognized by computers. That's ok....happens to all of us. Just get a card reader and use it for downloads. It's far easier than the camera/USB system anyway. typrice_137.jpg

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use iPhoto or any other photo cataloging program.

Communication Error message on downloading from an 8GB

if it supports the card and stores picture on it ..that the actual bus is not supporting the card ,,and you need a card reader for to use it ..I suggest a usb card reader very cheap and easy to use..
remember only if the camera accepts the card and works fine with it..cause there is a posibility that the camera is not compatible with this kinda large memory cards..
In this case the easy way is a card reader on usb for to not be invasive with he computer

Canon zoombrowser Ex downloading problem

The sd1000 manual says that you will get this error when you have too many pictures on your memory card (aprox 1000). I am not sure how many I had on my 2GB card but it was a lot. I deleted about 50 - 100 pictures and then it started working again and the new pictures downloaded to the computer.

Try connecting the camera to another computer. Is the camera reading the same error? If not, it's a computer issue.
If the camera is reading the same error, see if there's a way to restore camera back to the factory settings, and try all over again. Good luck :)
