Re: Inspiron 2200 notebook. what pc card to buy & how to...
Your best bet would be to get an external drive because they are more reliable than photo cards. another option would be a USB Flash Drive or (Pen Drive) which you do not typically need to install. All you have to do is plug it in to one of your open USB ports and you will see it show up unde (My Computer).
If you have large amounts of data I would recommend getting an External hard Drive Seagate make several models and so does Maxtor

This is probably due to 'shared memory' that the video adapter uses.
There isn't much you can do about it, although there is an option on some computers and laptops to reduce the video memory that is used.
Please note: changing BIOS settings can give adverse performance effects, only change if you are confident you can go back in again and change the setting back to what it was (make a note of any changes you make, in case you need to reset).
To do this, you will need to get to the BIOS settings by pressing F2 when the computer is first starting up and you can see the DELL logo. Then look for Video settings (unfortunately I don't have an Inspiron to hand to say exactly where it is)... you should be able to change the video memory from 8Mb to 1Mb.
Save the settings, reboot and see if that has made a difference.
No, you do not need to remove the harddrive just because you want to install memory in your computer, unless the harddrive is in the way for ,
memory changement.Usually harddrive is located in that way so the memory wont be near the sometimes hot harddrive.

verify that your wifi card is enabled in the BIOS, then install the latest driver for it. then try to use the Fix It option from Microsoft to enable WZC to manage your wifi connection : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/968682
I was surpirsed to see in the manual that there IS NOT a place to insert your camera memory card. We call these cards by many names SD etc. On your laptop you'll need to purchase a PCMCIA adapter card for your particular camera card. I've seen these at Amazon, Staples and Best Buy. Good luck

The display limit is determined by the LCD design. IN this case, you have an XGA LCD resolution 1024 x 768 pixels. This is a hard wired resolution and can only be changed by exchanging the XGA LCD for a higher resolution one (SXGA or higher, likeky not an available option for an Inspitorn 2200)
