Question about Maytag Legacy Series Top Load Washer

Maytag washing machine leak

My machine leaks when in use. It is not coming from the hoses behind the machine, but from under the washer. I can't get the top section of the machine to open to look. Do I need a special tool?

Mine does the same, getting about 5 years old now. The motor bearings are making a racket and it's believed that the seals are leaking. Going to run it until it breaks. I just looked at the Lowes website and the close replacement is about $400 new with a 1 year warrenty.

I've got the same problem going on. You can take the front off the machine . Its two panels held on by four screws. This will expose the "guts of the machine, plus you can lift the top up, but not really enough to do a major repair. You will be able to see the water leaking though. Good luck. I bought mine used about three years ago and am thinking its not worth fixing. The machine I'm guessing is about 8=9 years old. If your looking for a used machine, you might want to check with a "Resale" type store. We have a Habitat for Humanity Resale store that gets good used appliances in sometimes. Of course, whenever you buy used, your taking a chance. However, when you look at the cost of new ones compared to used ones a couple of years old, it might be worth it. I looked at Maytags at my local Lowes, and they were about $600.00. Used ones are about $100.00. Good luck. Hope things work out for you.

hmm, had our heavy-duty for bout 6 years now,$500.00,most of the time we have had it,it leaked,, the first time,I replaced the hose from the water pump, that sprung a leak, because it was'nt secured properly to the mainframe, rubbing vibration caused the leak, hmm $35.00 for the hose.I did the labor myself,,
    2nd time
had to have a new control panel put in, done by the maytag guy, $95.00
    3rd time
i noticed a puddle, so i pulled it out, took bottom panel off, ran full cycle with a wash-load,
nothin,, put it back together, ran a load, leakage,, :(
i did this 3 times, i have it on my porch, was looking into reapairing it,
but I think its going out tho the curve!!

I have Maytag LS7800 stackables and am happy with the capacity. I am purchasing side by side machines. What is the capacity of the LS7800?

The washer is leaking. Whenever it starts filling water. I checked the hoses they are all fine. It seems to me it's leaking from behind the drum where the water comes in. I couldn't see behind the drum, should I and can I take the top off and see if there is a clip on those hoses coming in

Leaking water

When your Maytag top load washing machine leaks water, you will need to check the following parts until you find where the leak is coming from.

The water valve: The first place you need to check is behind the washer. Check the two fill hoses and the water mixing valve.
Check for pinholes or cracks on the plastic body of water mixing valve.

Remove the front panel : The next thing you need to do, is to remove the front panel so you could see the tub and the hoses.
Set the washer on the regular cycle and turn it on so it could start filling.
Use a drop light and check all the hoses under the washer as the washer is filling.
Make sure to keep your hands away from any moving parts.

The pump : If the hoses are ok, check the pump for leaks. When the bearings in the pump wear out, that is when the pump will get noisy and that could cause your Maytag washing machine to leak water.

The stem & seal : Another place that the washer could leak water from, is the stem & seal on the holding tank.
When washer leaks water from the stem & seal, the water will leak down the center of the transmission.
When the stem & seal need to be replace, the tub bearing has to be replace at the same time. This is an expensive repair if you have to pay someone to do it. If you do it yourself it will cost you about $110.

Maytag atlantis washer got water leaking from

I have an Atlantis myself. There can be several problems. Did you check that the fill hoses in the back are not leaking? Are they tight? There are hoses inside the washer and a pump near the front. I replaced my pump last year and I,m getting ready to replace the thrust bearing assembly (spin issues). Does the washer leak with every load? make sure water is not splashing over the tub when filling. The front panel comes off if you can and leave off and watch to see where water is coming from.

I have front loader MFW9700 Maytag washer. Water

Check the door seal for tears and the drain boot from tub to drain boot for anything that might have put a hole in like a piece of metal from an under wire bra which front loads will spin so fast that the wires come out of the bras.

Washing machine leaks from underneath after rinse cycle...wash cycle runs fine, but when it drains out after rinse cycle, it leaks from underneath

i would 1st look to make sure the drain hose is not loose or broken. be sure it is staying in the drain pipe in the wall.it could be a cracked housing on your pump. hope this helps

Washer leaks on on the floor when using a large load setting.

The leaks in a washing machine could be coming from many different places in the washer.

The first place you need to check is behind the washer, check the two fill hoses and the water mixing valve.

The next thing to do is to remove the front panel, set the washer on the regular cycle and turn it on to start filling.

Use a drop light and check all the hoses under the washer as the washer is filling. Make sure to keep your hands away from any moving parts.

If the hoses are ok, check the pump for leaks. When the bearings in the pump wear out, that is when the pump will get noisy and that could cause your Maytag top load washing machine water leaks.

I have purchased a Maytag washer mtw6300tqo and it leaked from the first day it arrived. It does not leak DURING the cycles but leaks profusely a few hours later. I have had service techs look at it and...

Is there water inside the tub after it starts leaking? If so the valve that lets the water into the machine could have a bad seal and overfilling the machine with water when it is not being used. Or one of your water hose seals could be leaking. Make sure the hoses are tight. Beyond that there is nothing to cause a profuse amount of water when the machine is not being used.
