HP Pavilion dv9910us Entertainment PC Internet Problems

Hello.

Internet Service Provider: Comcast
OS: Windows Vista
Router Used: Netgear
Security: WPA
Duration of Problem: 4 months

This problem has been persistent ever since I purchased my HP Pavilion dv9910us Entertainment PC (August 3, 2008).

Summary: I was able to access ALL Internet sites wirelessly at home via Firefox (my preferred Internet browser) for two weeks after I bought it. Then (for whatever reason), I could only access SOME Internet sites wirelessly via Firefox (such as sciencedaily.com, acc.edu, google.com). I could not access sites like Wikipedia, answers.com, Youtube, etc. Once I hooked the laptop directly to the router, I could access all Internet sites again. That eventually stopped working and, in essence, I can't access the Internet as efficiently as I'd like to at home.

Now, when I try to access a Internet site like del.icio.us, it will attempt to load the page forever until you manually stop it. It never says "Cannot Access Site" or "Internet Time Reset" or whatever. It is simply a blank white page with the words "Loading..." on the top. However, if I access a site like sciencedaily.com, it'll go straight to the page as fast as possible.

Notes: My uncle, my aunt, and my father were all able to access all Internet sites with iPhones and laptops without problem. It is only my laptop that is having problem having access to all Internet sites.

I have no problem whatsoever logging on to my home and other wireless networks. For instance, I can access my school's network easily and have access to all Internet sites (with the exception of those blocked by a filter). My laptop indicates that I am, indeed, accessed to the Internet even at home.

It has nothing to do with Java or Javascript. My uncle and I both enabled and disabled it to test whether it had any effect. It didn't.

It has nothing to do with a specific browser. My uncle and I used both Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. It made no difference; the results were the same.

My brother attempted to re-enter all the numbers (ISP, DNS, etc.). For some reason, Vista makes it difficult for you to manually do such things. I believe he mentioned something about a problem with the DNS. Then again, I'm not sure.

The laptop is recognized as a connected computer when I review the Gateway Summary. My laptop is also listed on the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) and Wireless Process Filter.

Solution: I hope to God someone can address this problem. I'm in college, and I don't have time to spend 6 hours working with this laptop. I can't send it to a technician either considering I have to have it for class. Please help!!

    Also, I use the most recent version of McAfee.

    I repaired the problem. It had to do with the WPA security encryption. So, I renamed the wireless network and switched to WEP security encryption. Now I can access all Internet sites again!!

HP Pavilion Dv6910us Entertainment Notebook Pc will not connect to internet

To connectyour computer to a wireless router, you click the Refresh networklist, then Choose your wireless network and then click Connectto your secured Wireless Network, it will asks for a Network Keybefore allowing you to connect into your wireless network. This NetworkKey is either the WEP, or WPA or WPA2 Encryption key that is used toconfigure the Wireless Router. The Passphrase is an alternate way tosetup the Encryption key.
When you are requested for a Network Key, you can just enter the Passphrasethat was used to configure the Encryption key in the wireless router.http://www.fixya.com/support/r5270415-network_password_network_addressFor information on securing your wireless network, configuring the wireless router and configuring the wireless card in thelaptop/computer, please click on this link and follow my instructions :-http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security

Netgear wirless - installed on toshiba satellite a45 - S151 will not connect to internet router = comcast - linksys also causes conflict with connection of other wireless computer

Presumably, you have configured your wireless router:
* SSID (your "network name")
* encryption-level ('WPA' or higher security)
* password for your network

With that information, any wireless device (iPod Touch, iPhone, NetGear wireless adapter) should be able to connect to your wireless router.

> conflict with connection

Exactly what error-message are you getting?

My system can't detect the netgear router so, I can't connect. Error is view wireless network security setting for Netgear.

The network security depends on the operating system.
Windows 2000,xp-security:WEP
Windows vista,MAC-security:WPA.If your using for eg vista and xp then choose WEP as xp wont support WPA.

I have a wireless Netgear router. Everyone around

depending on your type of netgear router, the way you enter the setup is different. I use a netgear router and th emeens of access is to type in your web browser http://routerlogin.com/start.htm

Your internet provider does not have anything to do with your local security settings.

you will need to go to the wireless settings link to choose a security type. I recommend you to use at minimum WPA-PSK(TKIP) You will then choose a pass phrase of 8 characters. This will stop the unauthorized access.
You will be asked for the pass phrase when connecting to your network.
If you need any other help, please just reply.
