Question about Uniden BC60XLT Handheld Scanner
Trunking is a system where many radios use a few channels, the radios scan through the channels and find one that is not busy, then when you key up the transmitter it sends out a signal to the other radios in the group and switches them to the same frequency. There are at least 3 different trunkings systems that i know of, maybe more by now, but this is a basic explanation of how they work.
