I'm having the same problem....someone...please help??

I am having the same problem...the repairman said that the pedestal was 'weak' and that the washer worked perfectly!! How can this be perfect??? I'm so discouraged and frustrated.

The machine walks and vibrates violently on the spin cycle and is only 3 months old

This morning I thought the washer was going to jump right off the pedestal, I called an appliance repair and they told me this is a common problem and it was probably an uneven floor and I should "take the washer off the pedestal and move it to the concrete garage floor to see if the vibratating stops". Yeah like I can get this washer off the pedestal and move it to the garage. I told her I didn't think the washer was bolted to the pedestal and that might be the problem, but she didn't give that much credence. I wish I had never gotten this set as my old regular washer and dryer worked great..

If this problem just started and your machine is 4+ years old, You may have a broken basket support. They tend to rot away w/age.

Search Fixya. There is a guy from MA who has pictures and an accurate description of this common problem.

Did you take a level to the washer when you set it up? how old is the washer? Take the bottom panel off and check all four shocks.

It appears your vibration damper has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Whirlpool duet ht will not agitate or spin

Front load washers don't "agitate". Did you mean it doesn't tumble during the wash cycle? I need more information. Complete model # and a more detailed description of the issue.

My whirlpool duet washer hammers very loud when it spins. The outside of the machine doesn't seem to vibrate much but it is very loud.

That is a common occurrence with dryers such as this one. Even though it sounds bad, it is harmless. If it really bothers, you can re-balance the load and it should reduce the vibration.

I was washing beach towels and during the rinse/spin cycle the door popped open on my whirlpool duet ht (model GHW9400PL4). I haven't been able to close the door since it opened before the cycle was...

those have a 2 latch system, sounds like the second latch that engages during the spin cycle never quite completed the safety lock , you could try and jumper the latch to see if that would release it, But it seems the secondary latch wasn't working properly in the first place, even the heaviest loads shouldn't pop the door open,
