It is very likely that the motor has burned out. What happens is that the water solenoid allows water to fill to a certain point where a fill sensor stops it. The program then moves on to activate the motor which will agitate the wash. So when power is supplied to the motor, it tries to start, overheats because of a break down of insulation in the windings, and you smell burning. Replace the motor.
There is only one belt on the machine (the burning rubber smell, probably). Sounds like something is wrong with the clutch /drive mechanism. Unless your an accomplished DIY'er, it sounds like a job for the Maytag Man.
If no water is entering the drum, and it is not leaking out anywere, then there can be no water coming in at all, unless the pump is coming on right away and pumping the water out., check the waste outlet pipe as it is filling, and see if water is discharging from hose
One other possibility is that the belt is off and the whining niose is the motor turning on it's own with out turning the drum.
This being the case, u probably wouldn't see any water in the drum, due to the small amount that they take in.
Plz rate my solution.
I would check the drainpump ans see if there is something jammed inside like a coin or screw, nail etc before doing anything else .Unplug the machine first though . A burning smell will occur with a load of water trying to spin .
hi as your machine got a non return valve on it to stop water from getting into your machine via waste pipe. worst case is call indesit as i am sure you now get 5 years parts g/tee as indesit is now part of hotpoint still cheaper than another machine hope this helps
Ok can you take the front panel of the washer off easily?
If you can look for the motor pump assembly. Start the washer with no load, turn the water level down to the small and fill with water when it goes into agitation does it make the noise? if not turn timer to spin and see if motor makes the noise.
One other thought, maybe the smell is coming from the dryer?
Let me know. I wont be on line again until Friday Sorry
