Yes, it sounds like a computer-virus.
Remove the disk-drive from your desktop computer,
and attach it as a "slave" disk-drive to some other desktop computer, and then run a full virus-scan.
Or, just follow "best practises":
* backup your data & music & E-mail & contacts,
* reinstall Windows from trusted media,
* run Windows Update a bunch of times,
* reinstall anti-virus software,
e.g.,
http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials
* reload your files.
Hi thanks for your help. I have had a look but cant see any options to change under keyboard link. Is there a way u can access my laptop through yours?
Thanks.x
Not really sure what you mean, but dont think so.
I have the acer laptop Aspire 5670. I recently had to reinstall the windows vista cd thing. After I did this, I no longer had any sound of any kind. I have been all through the control panel regarding sounds and anything else remotely related to this problem. Everything says it is all working fine. When I try to adjust the volume, the bars go up and down accordingly, but still no sound. Nothing is set to mute. I have 6 separate buttons on the left hand side of my laptop. These are vol+, vol-,play/pause, stop, skip left and skp right. Before, if I pressed either of the volumebuttons, green bars would appear at the bottom of my screen to tell me the volume was increasing or decreasing or muted. Now, when I press these buttons, no green bars appear, but, like I mentioned before, when I have the sound settings from the control panel in view, the bars go up or down, giving me the idea the sound is working. I assume it must be a problem with the actual speakers, although, again, in the control panel, it tells me everything is working fine.
On my laptop I have to use a Fn button at samt time to use special keys, is yours the same?
If you have changed operating systems then that may complicate things. In the control panel you will see icon for keybopard, or interface device. Open it up and see if you have options to turn on or reset anything.
