About 6 months ago I had a convergence problem and the tech replaced the two STK392-110 ICs and I had a beutiful HD image until last night when I accesed the convergence setting and did a auto adjustment. I trew off the red color and even after I did a reset and several manual adjustments I cannat make the red align on the outer areas of the grid specially the top and left bottom corner.
I wander if I need to replace those ics again.

Re: JVC AV56-WP74 Convergence problem
I think that your ICs are ok, What you need to perform is what is called dynamic convergence, This involves using the internal convergence controls to align the outer edges of the screen. I am assuming that the center of the screen is ok? it's just the edges which are misaligned, right? Now for the bad news, this task is not easy in fact the job takes a pro about 6 to 12 hours to do it right. I think you should have a qualified TV technician attempt the static convergence setup followed by the dynamic convergence setup.

Ur convergence is dead.Must know how to solders?Must replaced 2 convergence ICS and some or all it resistors.Tries websites Tv repair World.com,Tvrepairkits.com to buy a convergence to repair it ur self. The shop will cost u $300 for parts and labors.
It could be that this time the convergence module went. I have replaced many convergence ICs and don't believe I have ever had any go out within 6 months. That does not mean that they can't. Remove the leads from the convergence area to isolate the ICs as you said you were told. Now remove the digital convergence board which should be nearby and probably will be in a metal box for noise protection. If you can I would unsolder the convergence ICs to totally take them out of the circuit and just in case one or both shorted out. Once everything I talked about has be removed try the unit. If your problem is in the convergence only your set should work but have an ugly picture. Let me know what you find and we will go from there.
The convergence is dead,Must replaced Convergence ICs and resistors.Tell the shop to repair it again. They probally didn't replaced the ICs or resistors. This problems can't come back about a week,at 6 months i can understand.
I have the same tv set and about 4months ago Ihad the IC STK392-110 replaced. I was told that it was the most common problem with proj. tvs. It did solve the probem until last night when I went into the menu to change a audio setting and stupiditely accesed the convergence setting and decided to do an auto adjustment which mesed up my beutiful HD picture. Now I have the red out of alignment ad even after I did a reset and multiple manual adjustmets it is still off at the top and bottom af my screen.
you need new convergence ICs STK392-110 ICs and the JVC convergence resistor Kit #1 you can get the parts at the following link with free instructions and free online tech support to help you with the final adjustments after install. Here is the link. http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/
you need to replace both convergence ICs they are both STK392-110 and you can get replacement ICs at the following link and they provide free step by step instructions with pictures so you can do the job yourself. Heres the link. http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/
If you did not use heat sink compound then you probably have not hurt the new IC's yet but you should remove them and add the heat sink compound NOW. If the convergence IC's are bad then you will have access to the convergence menu but the adjustments will have no effect. The fact that you switched the IC's and got the same results shows that the IC's are good. If your red convergence is still way out when the new IC's are installed then the old IC probably burned out the low value resistor associated with the Red Vertical (RV) channel.
