Reloading from the original CD and HP Director does not
The HP Director is not in the HP software folder, thus is not being recognized by the scanner. The CD and the computer thinks everything is good to go. I can find HP Image Zone from the Add/Remove in the Control Panel but it does not appear in the Program File folder or the HP folder.

The drivers of the scanner is not correct one, you need to un-install it and download drivers from HP web site by clicking HERE and then re-install drivers along with software.
Hope this will solve your issue.
the director will appear to not be working if the scanner is not installed and recognized by Windows. A scanner icon will appear on the desktop if it is recognized by Windows. One likely reason it isn't being recognized is the power supply isn't putting out enough current, 1.25A, to force the correct signal level through the USB port. If the power supply is old, not plugged directly into the wall, or a substitute with the wrong current rating, the scanner will not send enough power through the USB port.
I reformatted my computer with Windows XP home addition and re install all programs except IE 7. I then re install the scanner driver and HP director that was distributed with the scanner, and after that Director was working fine Thanks Dirk
It may happen if you have version 7.0 of Internet Explorer.
Install the below patch on your system it will make the HP Director to work.
