Sharp makes a line of fax machines, one of which is the FO-5700
. The FO-5700 is easy to maintain and to use, and it can run well for years. If you want to view the life counter (page count) for your FO-5700, just follow the steps below.
With the fax machine on and ready, flip up the bar that displays the information for half of the quick dial buttons (#17-32). This bar has a tab that you can use to flip it, which sits right by the panel release lever (where you would put your hand to raise the operation panel if you had to remove a paper jam there). Just flip this bar up so that it covers the first half of the numbers instead of the second.
Once the bar is flipped up, you'll see that the V button is labeled "Life." Press that button to bring up the counter menu. Then press 1 on the fax machine's number pad. The screen will display "1: Life Counter
" and below that, "LIFE=xxxxxx
" where "xxxxxx
" is the page count of the machine, in six-digit format.
You can view this life counter at any time, without having to print out a configuration page or usage page. To exit out of the life counter screen and return to the main screen, press the red Stop button. Be sure to flip the contacts bar back to its original position; there is a sensor that detects which way the bar is laying, and if it's still in the up position, pressing a button will have a different effect than it would if the bar were in its original position (such as bringing up the life counter instead of dialing a number).
