hi! the number one on the keypad of my brother fax machine keeps sticking. It is pushed in lower than the other keys. Is there a way I can fix this myself without calling a repair guy?

Probably not a self repair. It most likely is the membrame under the actual button. Any liquids spilled on it? If liquid spilled it may dry out, and it may not. Check with the repair people about the cost of the repair and the price of the control panel before agreeing to a visit.
