Controls Don't Work

I have an Insignia 26" LCD flat screen and it is hooked up to a cable box. It's been functioning perfectly up until the point that there was no sound when using cable. I called the cable company and they said that somehow the mute on the cable box got locked on. While waiting for them to figure it out, I was using the remote for the TV to go through various menus to see if I could detect a problem with the TV itself. They eventually gave me an unlock code for the cable box and the sound restored. However, now, NONE of the controls for the TV work, except the power button. THIS INCLUDE THE CONTROLS ON THE TV ITSELF!!!! The volume doesn't work, the menu button doesn't work. The input button doesn't work. I have never heard nor seen anything like it. My only control now is through the cable remote, which doesn't work particularly well with Insignia TV's. At this point, I can't even watch a DVD because I can't get the TV to switch inputs. PS, I've tred unplugging it for several minutes to reset it. No go! HELP!!!!

I must have pressed the wrong button on the remote at some point because now I only have a white screen with black snow flakes. I can only access the menu to change the volume or color, I cannot access the menu to choose TV, DVD or VCR. I have tried using all the buttons on the remote and on the TV, nothing works. I click the TV button on the remote, the light works so I know the batteries are ok. Normally after pressing TV/I forget what the other letters are on this button) the menu comes up to choose TV, DVD or VCR. I'm connected to a satellite dish. Can anyone help, how do I get my picture back?

I have the same problem as the rest of everyone, too bad Insignia hasn't issued any help anyone that owns their TV over one year. I guess they don't make TV's to last more than 1 year anymore for your $$. I couldn't believe Best Buy continues to sell this disposable HD LCD flat screen when I saw them on the shelf still today.
Anyways, if someone find out that the cost is reasonble to fix this, please relay, thanks "burnt" consumer

I have this EXACT SAME problem with my Insignia 26" LCD TV. I was three weeks out of warranty when it happened and Insignia wouldn't do anything to help me. I brought it to three repair shops and each repairman said that they couldn't guarantee they could fix it even IF they got the right parts. Anyhow, the TV repairman had it for three months (getting parts shipped from Asia, repair time, etc.) and he couldn't fix it. He also told me that tons of other people have the issue and that Insignia is replacing their TVs under warranty. So, if your TV is still under warranty, call Insignia. You just have to pay for shipping and shipping insurance. Hope this helps!

The power light is on but no picture comes on. Screen is black. Also no sound. What is wrong?

Check on the cable connection between TV and cable box, secure tightly hook up. Then check input setting for HDMI - normally HDMI 1/2/3 , then "COAX" use channel 3 or 4/ You can also try to press arrow down button until you reach a channel. If you are using cable remote try to also check the input setting using original Tv remote control. Then try to powercycle the cable box and Tv conenction.

Volume control on Insignia remote doesn't work.. Have to use cable box remote to control volume.

Your remote control may be faulty. If you can control the volume from the cable box and from the buttons on the TV - then I'm pretty convinced the remote control needs replacing.

My insignia NS-L26Q-10A 26" LCD television is showing that it is 420i on the screen and I understand that it is supposed to be 720p. How do I change this?

This may have to do with the settings on your DVD player or cable/satellite box. Change the settings on those devices to output the desired resolution (720p) and adjust your TV settings appropriately. More details about the TV settings can be found in the owner's manual.

Cable Remote

Hi hoff8434,

Insignia® has a remote control code web tool on their website at I input your information, but they do not have specific information for Time Warner remotes. For your model, it mentions you should try the codes listed with your remote for Orion, Emerson, Memorex, Sansui, Sylvania, and Zenith. Hopefully one of these codes will give you full or partial functionality.

Thank you,
