What 'MUSIC' folder?

I just bought the e260 and when I go into my computer and click on sansa e260 it brings up the folders of movies, photos, tmp, and record. Along with some other files. When I try to create a new folder of MUSIC it says one is already taken. Im not sure if im looking in the wrong spot or what.

Re: What 'MUSIC' folder?

Download powerdesk, the music file might be hidden and powerdesk will reveal it.

My Sansa e260 player works fine, plays my music and everything, but I have a problem with adding/deleting music. When I connected it to my computer, it did not recognize the player and it did not show up...

MSC will allow you to see the expansion card ( 2Gig E200 series 4gig Fuze) mtp won't.....MTP shows you your music folder in the media folder thats where you put your music plus expansion..... make sure your usb 2.0 driver is installed..Syncing to wmplayer puts music in the mtp music folder. change usb modes again and use the explorer to see the sansa msc lets you sync any Q/A IM or email me @

I cannot delete songs from Sansa E260

Ok, Sansa made it a little difficult this time,

"Connect your player, of course. Go to "My Computer" > "Sansa e260". There are hidden files. To unhide go to "Tools" (located on the menu bar) > "Folder Options..." > hit the "View" tab > select "Show hidden files and folders". You will see more folders to appear in a faded color. Click on the "MUSIC" folder. Click on the artist, then album then select the song, right click and down to delete." --Yahoo Answers

Hi I bought scandisk e260 without cd, when I connect it to the computer, the computer ask me to locate driver. Where can I get driver? thanks

Try connecting it to another computer and see if it will recognize it as sansa or removable drive. if it does then download the sansa update software and install it. Make sure you disconnect the sansa and connect it when asked. This will update your sansa and add the Usb Mode. Try to connect it to your computer at home it should recognize.... link for update software ( download to a flash drive much easier Make sure USB mode is MSC I use my computer to drag and drop my music from my music folder to the sansa media folder.... Open my computer click on folder what ever folder has your music in it and drag to media folder and drop (click on the (+)where it say's sansa ) easier not to sync

Music files corrupted, then disappeared

I had something similar happen to mine (corrupted music files). In Explorer right click on your F: drive, choose Properties, go to the Tools tab and then click the Check Now for error checking. Check both boxes then click Start. Once finished go back into Explorer, click on the Tools Menu, choose Folder Options, in the windows that comes up click on the View tab. In the Advanced settings section click the Show Hidden Files and Folders, then click OK. Now look at your F: drive and see what is there. There should be a MUSIC, PHOTO, PICTURES, PLAYLISTS, RECORD, SYSTEM, TMP, & VIDEO folders. Look in the MUSIC folder to see what music is in there. See it they still show up as corrupt when you turn on your Sansa. If so you may need to delete all the music files in the MUSIC folder and re-copy them to the device. Also, if you see any folders call FOUND.000 I would delete them, these will contain corrupted files that Windows found when checking the drive and are now useless too you. Hope this helps.

Re-formatted Sansa e260 - still 1.4 GB (out of 4GB) tied up

I'm going to try this suggestion from Sansa:

Thanks again for calling SanDisk Technical Support. It is our goal to make sure you have all the resources you need to get the most from your product.

There may still be music hidden in Rhapsody mode that you can't see.

To find this music go to the Tools menu in the upper left corner from any open folder in Windows XP.

Choose the last option, Folder Options

A dialog box will appear, choose the View tab and you will see a list of options.

Find and select the Show hidden files and folders option. Then click Apply, then OK in that order.

This will make any hidden files on your computer visible.

Now open My Computer and double click on the mp3 player to open it.
You should see a few grayed out folders. We will be looking for MUSIC and SYSTEM.

Open the Music folder to see if there are files there to delete.

Open the SYSTEM folder and look for a second Music folder deleting this folder will free A LOT of space..all of the pre-loaded music for Rhapsody channels.

Disconnect the device and check the free space.
