For Laptops, Dell places the sticker with the product key on the bottom. It will be 5 sets of 5 letters and numbers, separated by a "-".

Ive lost a recovery disk and now i cant reinstall,is there any way i can download off the net and make new recovery disks?

Two seperate issues. You can order new disks on ebay for example but if your product key is unreadable you need to purchase a new key.
See this link to buy - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Microsoft-Windows-Home-Premium-inkl/dp/B008OT79T4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1426423337&sr=8-2&keywords=windows+7+coa

Recovery media no longer available. Can it be downloaded somewhere?

You'll be better served by just reinstalling windows. Most times the recovery does not work.

System Restore will allow you to select a Restore Point(date and time) to set your system back to when it was working ok. Itdoes not delete any of your data, documents, music, pictures, videos orprograms (unless the program was installed after the Restore Date youselected).

System Recovery (sometimes referred to as Factory Restore) will set your systemback to when you first purchased it. It Deletes Everything. Mosttimes the System Recovery does not work unless there is a recovery partition onyour hard drive created by the manufacturer. If you are trying to recoverfrom a set of cd's most times it does not work.

Instead of doing a System Recovery it's much easier to just ReinstallWindows. Look on your computer for the Certificate of Authentication(COA) Sticker. It will tell you what operating system is on your computerand it will give you the Product Key Code (a series of 5 letters and numbers)that you will need to activate windows. If you don't have an operatingsystem disk, borrow one from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker. Justmake sure it is the same as your COA Sticker's operating system or it willnever activate. Also make sure you get the COA Product Key Code for thedisk you borrow because sometimes the system will ask for the one that is onyour system and sometimes it will ask for the one from the installation disk.

My laptop has no operating system on it

Borrow a reinstallation operating system disk or an operating system disk from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker. Just make sure it is the same as the operating system that your Certificate of Authentication (COA) sticker on the bottom of the laptop or inside the battery case or you will have problems activating it. Make sure you can read your series of 5 letters and numbers on your COA sticker and also get them for the disk you are using on the install. Sometimes when it asks for the product key it wants the one from your sticker, sometimes it wants the one from the cd used to install.

If you COA Sticker says Windows Vista Home Premium, you can't use a Windows Vista Home Basic operating system disc to do the install.

Can i reset a Dell Precision 360 to factory without disks ?

Swapping disks that run on a different system will not work unless the systems are exactly alike (manufacturer's make and model).

Your best bet is to reinstall the operating system if you can read the Product Key Code (series of 5 letters and numbers) on the Certificate of Authentication (COA) sticker on the computer. You have to reinstall using the same version of the operating system. If the COA says Windows XP Pro, then you need to reinstall with a Windows XP Pro operating system disk otherwise when it comes time to activate and put in the product key code you'll have issues and it will never activate.

How to clean out and reinstall acer 6070 desktop

If you are talking about reinstalling windows it will clean out the old version for you. It will also remove all your data, documents, music, pictures, videos and programs. It will do a fresh install of the operating system.

You'll need an operating system disk that is the same version as the Certificate of Authentication (COA) sticker that is affixed to your computer. If your COA Sticker says Windows Vista Home Premium, you cannot use an operating system disk that says Vista Home Basic. If they don't match, when it comes time to activate windows it will not work. When you activate windows and it asks for your Key Code use the series of 5 letters and numbers that are on your COA Sticker not the one from the cd you used to install because you might have borrowed the cd.

Bad dell hard drive

Hi there,
as long as you have the windows COA code on the back of the computer (certificate of Authenticity) you can just find a good copy of XP Pro, and install it on your machine. When done, you can run the resorce CD and install the drivers.

If you do not have the Operating System disk, you have to find another disk, or contact Dell to get a new one sent to you.

The key is that you have the code on the back of the computer (or top, or side, or wherever.)

Good luck!
