Question about Whirlpool Gold White-on-White 21.9 cu. ft. Conquest Side-By-Side Refrigerator with Ice and Water GD2SHAXLQ Side by Side Refrigerator
Freezer works compressor runs and cooling fan runs but the larder section is not working which part do i need to change the unit inside top lhs of top section of larder ? or is it something else parts are expensive so i dont want to waste money thanks Adrian
Check the drain that is inside of the freezer compartment at the bottom. you may have to disssasemble the covers to get to it. if its clogged the water turns to ice real quick and blocks air to the refrigerator

For this problem, its indicating towards
problem with damper assembly.----------
The working procedure of this unit is as
follows: --- The compressor starts then it cools the freezer section. When the
freezer reaches its cooling level the defrost cycle starts functioning. In this
cycle the fan in the freezer section starts running and the cool air in the
freezer section is passed to the fridge section and the fridge
section gets cold. The air from freezer to refrigerator passes from the
section, in that section the damper is located. ----------- The damper is
operated by a motor. Its a complete damper assembly with motor included in
it.--The damper has door.Which closes and open with the help of motor. In your
case the damper door is remained open, its not closing.Due to this the cool air
from freezer section is running in to fridge section non-stop.Due to this the
vegetables and other food in the bottom drawer freezing.--------- In this
problem the damper assembly needs to be replaced.---------------
This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

The compressor just keeps on running. The problem is weak
compressor. The refrigerant in the compressor is got low.The compressor
is weak. The compressor needs to be replaced.-------------- The working procedure of
this unit is as follows: --- The compressor starts then it cools the freezer
section. When the freezer reaches its cooling level the defrost cycle starts
functioning. In this cycle the fan in the freezer section starts running and the
cool air in the freezer section is passed to the fridge section and the fridge
section gets cold. The air from freezer to refrigerator passes from the
section, in that section the damper is located.------------ But as you mentioned
that freezer not cooling this indicates problem with compressor. When compressor
cools the freezer section then fridge section gets cold.If freezer section is
not getting properly cold then fridge section will not cool properly/.So the
problem relates to compressor.---------- In the compressor there is a
refrigerant called FREON.With the help of this Freon the compressor cools the
freezer section.Freon is a gaseous type cooling agent. The compressor will stop
cooling when coolant gets leaked from its chamber.--------- Again recharging the
Freon is possible, but the cost for that recharging is approx the cost of new
compressor. So its always advisable to get compressor replaced.Because new
compressor has warranty for few years.------------------ You can get required
parts from from online sites like: --- www.repairclinic.com or from
searspartsdirect online site. --------- This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

The defrost is not
working,.The evaporator coil in the inner section of freezer is got
blocked by ice .
Try manual defrost reset
procedure: ----
First unplug the unit
from main power outlet. Then empty whole unit completely. Then keep both the
doors open. Wait for 24 hours. All the ice collected on the coils and in the
freezer section will get melted. Clean the water from the sections.
Then Connect the power cord of the unit to main power outlet after 24
hours/.Then set the temperature to normal in both fridge and freezer section.
It will take near to 4 hours to get run in its proper cooling cycle. Then check,
if the problem returns again. If the same problem occurs then it's defrost problem.
The defrost board and the defrost thermostat/heater is not functioning properly
and it has to be checked and replaced.
-------------------------------------------------
Check
the damper if there is too much water collected in
the damper then press the damper and remove the water
collected in it. The procedure of this unit is as follows: --- The compressor
starts then it cools the freezer section. When the freezer reaches its cooling
level the defrost cycle starts functioning. In this cycle the fan in the
freezer section starts running and the cool air in the
freezer section is passed to the refrigerator section and the
refrigerator section gets cold. The air from freezer to refrigerator passes
from the section, in that section the damper is located. Now this problem which
you mentioned. In this problem the freezer works but no cooling in fridge, this happens if the
thermostat is not functioning or the heater is not heating. Then the ice starts
getting collected on the evaporator coil. The evaporator coil
is at the internal section of freezer. If too much ice gets
collected
then this ice blocks the fan in the freezer section from functioning and this
blocks the damper section with ice getting collected there. This all procedure
is controlled by the main defrost board of the unit. Now if the damper is not got
blocked with too much water or if the ice is not got collected on the damper
area then check the evaporator coils. If there is too much ice got
collected on the coils, then takes a hair dryer and melt the collected ice.
Then see if the problem returns again. But if there is little bit ice collected
on the coils and fan is running properly then it's not a problem. In that case
main defrost board is faulty and it has to be replaced. The main defrost board is working but
its not controlling the functions as required so the freezer works but fridge section not getting cold..

You can get required
parts from sears part direct online site or from repairclinic.com site.

This will help. Thanks. Helpmech.

Fans are running, Freezer is 11.7 degrees but refrigerator is 50 degrees. I have emptied the freezer and most of the refrigerator. Water runs down the walls of the refer. We had an appliance man out, he felt the seal on the refrigerator wasn't sealing properly. That may be but it has been that way from the beginning and we have never had the current problem. The vents aren't blocked. We have vaccumed and cleaned the coils. (Larder is an old fashioned word for a cool place to store your food. I believe this person is referring to the entire inside of the refrigerator portion.)
could you please explain Larder section? are oyu talking about the Butter section or some other part please Adrian?
