it's easy if you're willing to open up some hardware. First you must open up the battery and cut the serial cord (orange tape) leading from the battery to a circut board. Once you cut/pull the tape the battery will no longer recognize the version of psp you have. If you turn on your psp a "dos" like program will appear. change the settings and manually type in the version code for the psp you want to roll it back. Once you have it rolled back you can play all sorts of games on the psp for free including ps1 games.
