Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Blinking screen I have a 19" flatron screen. A few months ago it started binking. At first it blinked for only a couple of minutes and then stopped. The length of the blinking time increased and now it blinks incessantly. I thought it was the motherboard of the computer but it isn't. I hooked it up to a different computer and it still blinks.

Black screen with blinking cursor upon start up

You don't say what Windows are you using.
Anyways, it seems like you have a corrupted BOOT problem.
On Windows Vista and Windows 7, you can insert your Windows installation CD, and choose the "Repair my pc" option.
Windows will do it automatically fro you, and you'll be up and running in a couple of minutes.

Dont forget to rate this answer if it helps.

PC or monitor, signal problems

your monitor is telling you it's on it's last legs..either that or your compaq has a bad video section. either is more vital than a video cable being loose.

Medion's Dark screen

I see you've downloaded the video card driver, but how about the driver for the monitor? It's a long long shot, but I shall refer you to http://www.monitor-drivers.com/ It's worth a shot, afterall I hate seeing parts thrown in the basement. Sadly your problem sounds far worse than a driver problem (which is probably plug and play anyway). It sounds to me like a monitor on it's last leg. Severe problems that happen gradually like you described point to something beginning to fail. First it takes forever to start up, then later you have to turn it off and on again real fast to get it to initialize, then finally it just craps out.
