Freeview? I'm not good with tv words... Is freeview a free channel you stole from the neighbors dish (don't be ashamed)? If so, then you should buy cable (Cable's better. Really. Satellite dish companies looked one thing over. Storms ruin your tv.). If your just watching what you can get through the air, well, that won't work. After a while, you start to lose channels. Just get cable. If you already have a tv network, then you should call the tv company.
Some cable companies use the 'tier' pricing with their "Packages". Here in Tallahassee it goes something like this..............................
1) Basement 'Basic" pkg. No converter.>>>>>>>>>>Lineup>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> CH 1-9 2) Basic w/converter.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>It varies, but there are a lot more than 9! 3) Basic w/Digital converter>>>>>>>>>>>>>> more channels,and PPV 4) Premium pkg>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>HBO,Sports etc.
Go to the menu on the TV, run auto channel search, and check the type of signal assigned, i.e. Antenna or cable. Good Luck!
If using a cable box then you want to set the TV to channel 3 or 4 as the cable box will output to one of those. If no cable box then its possible the TV's tuner is bad or your cable company only transmits in digital form requiring a cable box since this TV only has an analog tuner
Hi. It could be that you didn't get everything from your cable installer that you were supposed to.
Most cable systems nowadays have a dvr type box for the main tv, and have whats called a digital transport device for the other tv's in the house.
It's a digital converter box designed especially for cable systems, and on top of that, it requires the cable company to send a signal to the box in order for it to work properly.
I know about this only because I went from a single tv cable system to a 4 room system, and the boxes are what the cable company told me to get.
Luckily, they provided them for free, all I had to do was tell them how many tv's I needed them for, and they came in the mail within a few days.
There isn't a tv signal on that coaxial cable. The other end of it is not connected to anything with an active signal. For example an indoor antenna, or an outdoor antenna, a cable TV company's active TV source (that you are payin for), or a satallite TV company that you are paying for them to turn on, also TV's do not have a built-in satallite tunner to tune in those sattallite channels, you have to use that company's external tunner box. No tunner box = no channels. Even U-Verse No Tunner Box = No TV.
try this first:
Setup and Connection
The TV won't turn on Check your power cable connection.
• t can't view the Basic channels. Check the connection of the antenna cable
• t want to view cable channels. Register with your local cable company then connect their receiver to your TV.
• t want to view satellite channels. Setup your Satellite parabola antenna then connect your satellite receiver to the TV.
• Digital broadcasting is not functioning Check your antenna cable connection. Check if the digital channel selection is correctly
connected to your antenna cable.
You will need to complete a channel scan from the tvs menu. I assume you have basic cable and that your cable company is still providing analog channels for you to be able to pick up any transmission on this telvision with the digital changeover and all.
It is most likely a signal issue. Bad coax connections, splitters and faulty cable are usually the culprit. Best to call your cable company and request a signal test. You may also try swapping tvs. Swap sony with viewsonic in the room where viewsonic tv is.
You can also try a hard reset: Unplug TV from AC mains and remove all cables from TV. Wait about 30 minutes and replug to AC power and redo the cabling. Switch on the TV and see if it works..
