Question about Harman Kardon Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

My surrounds are not working right

When I hook my surround speakers up correctly (Right + to + and Right - to -) nothing comes out.
When I hook them up wrong or crossed (Right + to + and LEFT - to - ) one speaker works.
What's up with this?
Thanks.

This will sound stupid but I've made this mistake before (and I usually know what I'm doing...) so here goes.

Read the manual (check HK's website) - specifically the page where it has the diagram describing how to hook up all the speakers. I'd bet you miswired them due to some confusing labeling on the back.

Can you have just 2 channel by hooking up to right & left front speaker posts on 5.1 surround

short answer.....no. If you hook more than one speaker up to a single channel, it will lower the impedence and will damage the amp. You can hook up multiple speakers by using a speaker switch box between the speakers and the amp. This will match the impedence and should keep the amp from blowing.

Hook all the positive and negative wires correctly and read on the speakers and make sure you have them all in the right spot and if that doesnt help its probably because the reciever is maxed out wich is triggering a kill switch wich some recievers have as a safety feature so you dont blow your speakers

Yes there has to be a configuration for the 5.4 surround sound... look if the hardware came with a CD to update the sound driver. or Check if the its correctly configured. on the control panel then click Sound, then depending what windows you have have to lookk for the configuration or properties area and configure as 5.0 or sorround etc.

Kenwood VR6070 speaker/amp problems

unit needs repair. Look at the b speakers. Conect a speaker or two to the B position. If you have no sound than your surrond sound is ok and the unit is bad. Sound comes directly into the b speaker and not threw the surrond system. My 6070 has a cold start up problem. no sound. time to purchase a new one. to costly to repair.

If you are connecting a 5.1 surrround sound rather than 7.1, have you connected the surround speakers to the surround left and surround right rather than surround back left and surround back right?
