Question about Computers & Internet

Help please.....all of my USB ports have stopped working since I plugged in a digital picture frame a week ago. I have tried every fix that Microsoft help center has recommended. I restored to an earlier date. I uninstalled all the USB ports in the 'device manager', then restarted my computer. I ran the latest update for my BIOS. Checked my BIOS to make sure USB was enabled. Checked my registry to make sure the USB wasn't powered down. Any other suggestions?

If your ports are going through a PCI card I guess its possible that the card could have been fried (burnt out), although this is unlilnkely from a simple plugging in of a digital picture frame. Do you leave your PC running, or use lots of USB hubs with extensions; if so this shortens the life of your USB devices.

As I say it is unlikely however if you know much about computers I would advise taking a look inside the case and checking the PCI card isn't fried - if all else fails, take it to a store and they should just check it for free (and if you need a new card then you can buy it, which you would have to anyway even if you did open the case up yourself :D)

Alternatively you may have some how disabled something in the BIOS (not nescisarily the USB, maybe something powering or supporting the USB) and ensuring that everything looks correct within the "Device Manager"

Hope this helps!

Get out your voltmeter and check for 5 Volts between pins 1 and 4 ( the two outside pins ) of any USB connector on your computer. If you don't see 5 volts you have somehow blown the fusible resistor on your motherboard or USB adapter card. Obviously replacing it is not for the faint of heart.
Another way of checking is to try one of those dumb USB lights or fans. Make sure it works on a known good computer, then try it on yours. No light or fan - no 5 Volt supply. It's a relatively easy repair - for an expert.

Can't get photos from MAC to load to Digital Photo Frame

To connect to a Macintosh computer:
1 Plug in and turn on the digital picture frame.

2 Connect the small end of the usb cable to the usb port on the side of the digital picture frame.

3 Connect the larger end of the usb cable to a USB port on your Macintosh computer. The Macintosh will recognize the digital picture frame as an external storage device, and an icon will appear representing the device.

4 Drag and drop your photos on to the icon...

5. After you finish, press the eject button, and disconnect the usb cable once the icon has dissappeared

If there is still a problem, try restarting the macbook. and make sure no other programs are running in the background that may interfere with the process. Also, make sure the laptop is plugged in, or the battery power is sufficient.

Hope this helps!

Unable to download pictures from computer to digital frame

The primary software is going to extract all the images, put only the images you want on the card, then insert into your picture photo frame.

Kodak easy share SV 811

I had the same problem. I use kodak easyshare software and load my pics on to that. Then put all the pics you want in the picture tray. Have your frame plugged into the computer with your usb cord. Then go up to File menu and drop down to "copy to". On my computer it is Folder "E" which is the drive the frame is connected to. Then pick from the Resize drop down menu " best for picture frame', then click copy. You will see the program loading all the pics to E drive. When done, unplug usb cord and you will see it loading on your pic frame. As easy as this is to do, I found it frustrating as well, but when it works, it is easy. Hope this helps

USB divice not recognized

I tried many ways to fix the problem. Someone suggesting unpluging it for 30 min. That didn't work. I downloaded the latest version of the camera driver. That didn't work. I downloaded the latest version of windows, and that didn't work.
I was running out of ideas. But I thought I might try restoring my computer to a prior date. This restore feature hasn't worked for me for 6 month. But, that day, luck was on my side.
Since I restored my computer to two weeks ago. My problem, is fixed!

Not recognized by any computer!

Dear kingcarl24,
I would try getting a new cord that connects to the camera to your computer, or as a quick fix you could get a memory card reader that plugs into your usb port and download your images directly from the memory card.

Sincerely,
Allan
