I posted my problem under the above Sony KDF-42WE655 model number, but don't see it here so I will put it here also since three other problems reported are similar... we have blue strip of color on the bottom edge of the screen getting gradually worse, now moving up to the mid-left also. Is it dirty and need of cleaning, or a bad optical (light?) engine which needs repair as was the suggestion for the other three posted blue color problems? Cleaning sounds less expensive...My husband was quoted a $900 part alone without mention of labor...Thanks for any advice or helpful information.

Re: Growing Blue Color
It's most likely the light engine. Sony has a service bulletin on these right now for one of the causes of this. Both causes result in the replacement of the light engine but they are only covering one type.

Your optics engine has failed in the set. One of the LCD's usually the blue has come apart and is smearing. The only way to correct this is to have the optics engine assembly replaced.
Here is website which might be able to help you.. There prices are very reasonable and units are refurbished to factory specs, you might need to have a technician come and install if for you, but you save yourself alot money going this route.. The pic will only get worse with time..
Sony tech support (no charge) said it was definitely not the lamp.
Their suggestion- By unplugging the TV for a minute then turning back on, the blue color was substantially but not toally reduced.
Perhaps there is an electrical charge building up distoring the color by having the TV in the ready mode for too long and by unplugging, the charge dissipates?
No other phone solution recommended other than calling for repairs.
