Same deal here. When I connect with VGA, it's not a problem, but when I try DVI it won't bring up anything but Power Save Mode. It's really pissing me off.

Same thing... I've looked into making sure I have the right DVI Cable (DVI-D single) which shipped with monitor. Video card DVI-D output is Dual.. Shouldn't be a problem, but cannot get monitor to work digitally.

I have a Nvidia GeForce 2 card. Should be able to plug in and go...?

I had this problem as well as a lot of other people. The solution is to go to the power options in the control panel and turn power saver off. This should keep the monitor from going into power saving mode.

It depends on what type of connection you are using. If you are using a VGA (analog) cable then you need to select that mode on your monitor menu. If you are using a DVI (digital) cable then you need to choose that mode on you monitor menu.

My monitor goes on when I press the power button, but after I walk away for a few minutes and power save mode starts, I can't recover by pressing a keyboard button or moving the mouse.

What if you press the "power" button? Does it turn off or turn on?
I hope that you've set the power settings to "hibernate" or "Stand by" mode, please go to the "power" settings and check the settings, if they are enabled, change the settings to your requirements.
If you are using a Windows O.S. then, you can go to the power settings by right clicking on the desktop > Properties > Screen saver > Power and go ahead with it.. or Control Panel > Power Options...
Good luck.
Thanks for using FixYa.

I have a Dell SE198WFP Flat Panel Monitor, screen goes black?

The LCd panel may be damaged and will cause this problem.

Another thing is overheating of the GPU.

The LCD signal receiver can be goign on you.

The is also the possibility of a faulty inverter.

Only thing to do is service or replace. Test the unit on another computer, if you don't get the issue there then you know its a problem with the PC.

My monitor won't turn on, when boot up it goes

the problem is not the monitor. the video card itself. replace it or before you do that, try reinserting the video card or clean the contact before you reinsert it..

Dell SE198WFP 19" LCD won't come out of standby

I went into the BIOS (with F2 during restart) and changed a value -- IIRC it was called something like "power management scheme" -- from the default S3 to the other choice, S1. Now the old Dell XP Dimension 2350 will go into and out of Standby correctly and the new SE198WFP 19" LCD will too.

Monitor Screen goes black every few seconds!

Check the capacitors on your monitors circuit board. If they have opened up at the top, they are fried. Buy new ones, make sure nothing has leaked from the old ones, and replace them.

It’s very likely your monitor has failed. Most Dell monitors have a 3 year warranty, so if you got it before three years, you could get it replaced by calling Dell. If you got the monitor with the computer, you can check your warranty online from with your computer Service Tag from . If you bought the monitor separately, you would need an Order Number or Customer Number for the purchase, or you could call Dell support and they could pull it out with your registered phone number. Dell would also need the serial number (starting with CN XXX..) from the back of the monitor.

Second monitor - 'power save' mode.

Firstly, you can try to switch the second with the first monitor. Secondly, use only the second monitor as a main monitor and check that if there is still a problem or not. It might be because of BIOS. You can check and update BIOS with your computer manufacturer.
