It does sound like the magnetron is gone, there is a thermal fuse that monitors the temperature of the magnetron, if it got to hot it would cause a shutdown taking up to 30 minutes to reset automatically.
Did you figure this out? I am having the same problem. I see PRESS CLOCK on the control display. But none of the keys on the touch pad work. GE sucks bigtime !!
If the model number you have listed is correct, you turn the Child Lock feature on/off by pressing and holding the "Clear/Off" button for three seconds. The instructions are on page 28 of the Owner/Operator Manual.

are you saying the unit go's dead if thats the case there is internal protection shutting it down and some troubleshooting would be required to figure out what is causing it.
