How can I restore my Panasonic SC-HT440 system to it's factory settings?
I thought my TV was progressive scan capable and I change the settings to that. Turns out the TV doesn't have progressive scan capabilites and now I can't see the video portion of DVD's.
Can't even see the menu to change things back.
I have the same problem with a pioneer DV575K. I tried the stop button trick but there is no [≥10] key on my remote. Any ideas please
Restore Pioneer DV575K :I solved the problem myself thanks, googled for info and all it took was to press the standby/power key on the main unit (unit in stanby) while pressing the rewind button...zammo its fixed.

It may be a variety of things:
1. Make sure your TV is set to the right input for the cable you are using (Composite, Component, HDMI, etc.).
2. More often then not progressive scan may be set. If your TV is not compatible with progressive scan then you must try the following to turn it off:
Look for an external button or remote control button that turns progressive scan on or off.
Remove any discs from inside the DVD tray with the power on, then hold down the Stop button on the front of the DVD player for about 10 seconds to see if this will reset the system to default (i.e. no progressive scan).
If this does not work, you will need to contact the manufacturer for the exact reset steps for restoring to default settings.
3. Lastly, the video processor could be malfunctioning. This would mean a technical repair.

I own this model and do have the manual; however, standard AV and S-Video connections do not transfer progressive scan video images. If you hookup a progressive scan output to a non-progressive scan TV input, you will not get an image, so it is probably the way you have your machine connected to your TV that is the problem. If you are trying to watch regular TV through your machine, you will probably need to use a standard Coaxial Cable. I hope this helps.
On 12/29/2007 at 1135pm, I found the solution for yours and my problem. Here is what you need to do. I did the same thing and couldnt get video. If you set Progressive Scan to ON in error , you must reset the unit. Play your dvd, then press "STOP" to stop the disc from playing. Hold the stop button on the dvd player for approx 5 seconds before releasing it. The video output will be restored to the standard setting, and a picture will once again be visible on a conventional analog TV or monitor.
follow the steps it may help !!
Press STOP button.
? If playing a disc, press the STOP button twice so that ?STOP?, appears on the display.
Press and hold P.SCAN button on the remote control for over 5 seconds.
? Pressing and holding the button for over 5 seconds will select "Progressive Scan" and "Interlace Scan"
? When you select P.SCAN, "P.SCAN" will appear on the display.
? To set P.Scan mode for DivX discs, press the P.SCAN button on the remote control for more than 5 seconds with no disc in the unit (?'NO DISC" on the display), then load the DivX disc and play.
