Unable to use other wireless devices with belkin f5d7630 router
I recently purchased the above router for my parents. I installed it and it was working fine both on the pc and there were no problems using the ipod touch with it, however it was not a secure connection. When I have made the connection secure it will now not allow you to connect any other wireless device. Any suggestions?

If you are unable to connect your laptop wireless to your Belkin wireless access point/router, the easiest and fastest way to get going is to reset your router to the factory defaults. This will make your router work like the day you bought it.

Reset your router:

Unplug your DSL/Cable modem from power (not your access point/router) Leave this unplugged for now

Next

On the rear of your Belkin router you will find a small RESET button

With the power still on the router, Press and hold (with a pin/pen tip) the RESET button for 10 seconds.

Release the RESET button a wait 15 seconds for the router to reboot

almost done....

Unplug your Belkin router from power

Plug your DSL/Cable modem back in to power

Wait 1 minute for the modem to boot up

Be sure the ethernet (cat5) cable from your modem is securely plugged into the WAN port on the back of your Linksys router. This is usually labeled WAN or Internet above the jack

Plug your Belkin router back into power.

You will now be able to connect to the internet with your wireless device. I would advise that you follow the next steps in securing your wireless network.

Magoo
Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. If you are still unable to access with above ip then press RESET button for 10 seconds then all settings defaults then you can access it. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.
Open the working pc open internet explorer and type 192.168.1.2 in the
webaddress bar. this will open your belkin router settings page. On the
left choose wireless security. If it asks for a password leave the
password box empty and just click submit. Choose Wpa Psk as the security method. The wireless key is in the box
beside pre shard key: if you cant see it untick obsure key at the
bottom. Type a password of your choice in this box. Take a note of this for future reference. Click apply at the bottom. Your wireless network is now secured with this key as the password. Any problems reply to this message
Open the working pc open internet
explorer and type 192.168.1.2 in the webaddress bar. this will open your
settings page. On the left choose channel and ssid. If it asks for a
password leave the password box empty and just click submit. The
channel is the frequency your wireless network operates on. Some channels are more stable than others, but its just trial and error until you find the most stable for your area. Change your wireless channel to a different one (any channel is fine, personally 1,11 or 8 works best for me) and click apply changes. Hope this helps.

your Internet modem or router needs to be connected to the Belkin router's WAN port with an ethernet cable. You'll then need to configure the belkin's wireless settings, it's usually a very easy "follow the prompts" kind of setup.
When you installed the Belkin, without running the install on your dad's computer, Vista rebelled, and is now in a non-cooperative frame of mind until or unless you obtain the cooperation and participation of your dad in the install process, so that his system properly integrates into the larger network you are setting up.
I repeat that which was implied.
Get your Dad's cooperation and participation FIRST!
