I have a 98 volvo s70 it wasn't cranking up like normal so I had it diagnose and a code pop up P0102 it came out to be a mass air flow problem. So went to the closes parts store and order one for about 130 dollars. The probllem still continued so i went and exchange the sensor for a brand new one and it still didnt work. So it has to be another problem, I spoke to a mechanic I was told its the sensor. so now I'm getting ready to buy a sensor for 230 from volvo, just wanted to see if what could I do before hand.

Try replacing your air filter, then reset the code and then if the same error pops up then you can replace the sensors one at a time. Chances are the sensors are the same component in 2 different locations (ie they are interchangeable). Replace one of them, reset the code, if the error comes back then replace the remaining unit with the originally replaced unit.
Which operating system is on the computer? The Foretrex is not compatible with Windows® 95, 98, Me, or NT. It is also not compatible with Mac® OS 10.3 and earlier. This is a common limitation of most USB mass storage devices.
Also, check to be sure that the USB cable is not defective.

Hi Thanks for using FixYa. Codes PO171 and PO174in
your Mercury sable means a bad Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor as a bad sensor will
cause the vehicle not to start. Also these codes indicate
a lean fuel mixture. Check for vacuum leaks by spraying carb cleaner around the
intake manifold and any vacuum lines. If you do not find any intake leaks,
replace the mass air flow sensor. Please do accept the solution
if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance. Thanks Rylee
