Question about GE Profile Spectra JGBP90 Gas Kitchen Range

Funny Smell My XL44 range has suddenly started emitting a funny smell from all sources when they are in use (broiler, bottom burner, all four elements) -it makes me think of improperly combusted gas (it does not smell like natural gas). The problem started after I moved the stove out to paint the wall behind it. Help!

My gas stove has a funny smell when not in use. Particuarly one burner. There is some yellow in the flame also. It kinda smells like tin burning, if that makes any sense. The only thing I can think that is different in the house is, I noticed a thick layer of dust on everything. More than usual. It might be from vacuuming so much cat litter off the floor. The dust seems clay like colored. I'm guessing the clay dust comes right back out the exhaust on the vacuum cleaner everytime I vacuum. Is there a way to clean the gas burner where the flame comes out/

When I use my gas burners I smell an odor that is not natural gas, but more of a by-product smell. I can smell it across the house. The stove is a year old and just started doing this recently. We haven't done anything differently that I can think of.

I just noticed this same problem with our stove in our new apartment. It smelled like a strange burning smell. I looked all over the internet and found some people saying that if you recently used any petroleum-based product in the house that it would burn the particles that were in the air. The only thing I could think was that the walls were newly painted before we moved in. Maybe the apartment isn't fully aired out or maybe the stove picked some of it up. Seems like the paint thing is similar in both our cases. I hope it's harmless- I kept all the windows open today to use it and hopefully it goes away soon.

I have what smells like kerosene burning. It is coming from the cooktop, the gas dryer and even the electric stove.

Something in the house no doubt but what? We don't use any chemicals per se?

ALL YOUR FLAMES SHOULD BE CLEAN BLUE FLAMES WITH NO WHITE OR YELLOW TIPS OR FLAMES !!!! YELLOW FLAME = DIRT OR PAINT? WHITE = LACK OF AIR SOUNDS LIKE YOUR STOVE IS NOT GETTING ENOUGH COMBUSTION AIR. INPROPER AIR ADJUSTMENTS OR LACK OF AIR WILL CAUSE A WHITE TIP ON THE FLAME ... THAT IS CARBON-MONIXIDE !!! A CLEAN BLUE FLAME EMITTS CARBON-DIOXIDE AND IS NORMAL. IF YOU USED AN AIR-GUN TO PAINT, CHANCES ARE YOUR BURNERS HAVE A SLIGHT COATING ON THEM AND HOPEFULLY WILL BURN OFF IN TIME. TRY OPENING ALL YOUR DOORS AND WINDOWS IN YOUR HOUSE ... AND TURN ALL BURNERS ON AND LET THEM BURN FOR AN HOUR. DO NOT LKEAVE SIGHT OF THE STOVE, BUT KEEP NEAR A OPEN WINDOW. NOTICE !!! MOST GAS COMPANIES WILL COME OUT AT NO CHARGE TO CHECK GAS, AND FOR CARBON-MONOXIDE.(C0) NOT (CO2).

Hi, To complete the circuit for the electronic ignition the 3 screwheads under the aluminum burner need to be really clean. The same goes for the 3 posts on the bottom of the aluminum burner. They touch to apply grounding for the ignition spark. GL!

When I start the microwave, it has a funny smell

Sounds like you burned out the magnetron, if so you should discontinue use immediately. This is the bit that emits the microwaves and they will fail with a burnt faintly oily smell to an acrid chemical smell. Magneton replacement should not be attempted by the amateur fix-it man, Find a reputable appliance repair shop or chuck it in!

Occasional gas smell

If you have a burner lit and gas build up, strong smell etc., my advice would be to stop using the oven immediately! You no way gas should come out, build up, to the point you smell it, Especially while a burner is lit. Dangerous condition.

Cgr3765adc, during bake mode upper burner does not ignite, gas smell. upper burner does ignite during broiler mode however. this problem seems to be in control module perhaps, not with igniter or burner...

In bake mode only the bottom burner will ignite. The gas smell could be caused by improper adjustment of the air intake on the bake (bottom) burner or something (foil) covering the holes in the oven cavity floor.

Oven and Broiler not working

The gas supply valve to the oven/broiler is the likely culprit. It is a separate valve from the stovetop. I've had the same problems and had to replace mine twice now. They are very expensive, (about 100 dollars) considering the cost of the whole stove. It is located
inside the broiler drawer on the very back wall.

GE Oven does not light - no gas smell and no electronic ignition clicking sound

Gas oven does not work. Burners and broiler work. When oven kGnob is turned on, there is no glow at ignitor, nor any gas smell.
