Try and see if this will work...

1-Power on the player.
2-Ensure disc tray is empty.
3-Wait for (no disc)to be displayed.
4-Enter 0086000 with the remote control ,then press ok.
5-Then enter with the remote control 00009 then ok
this should verify you have region 0
if it does all is ok.
6-Then you need to push system menu button.
7-The first page you come to will be general
you need to change the video output to ntsc, dont worry it will revert back to pal when you exit system menu..and only has to done once to set the hack.
THIS HAS TO BE DONE TO ALLOW HACK TO READ ALL TYPES OF DISCS E.G NTSC AMERICAN.

I hope this helps.
Plz let me know^^ Goodluck!

Check with an other known good disc. If it shows the same for that disc too, its laser pickup unit has the fault, and should be replaced. Contact any experienced service technician. Replacing laser pickup assembly to blu-ray players are a very very skilled work. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

The DVD drawer will not open unless a disc is in the drive. When the drawer would not open I took the cover off the player. The DRC8295N is a VCR-DVD/R RW player recorder. The DVD drive will record on...

The problem isn't with the motor being too weak, but the belt which the motor drives. I had the EXACT problem just as you described. What I did was I took off the belt and cleaned it with rubbing alcohol because apparently the belt picked up some of the grease from the gears and wouldn't rotate when the motor spinned. This belt actually pulls down the mechanism, on which the CD sits, from the magnet. So, just clean the belt and you should be good to go. If the belt is very loose, you might need to replace it.

Hello,
A common reason for dvd players to give you error messages like "bad disc", "incorrect disc", "disc not readable", etc is that the optical lens needs to be cleaned. Dust will build up over time and prevent the device from reading the discs properly. Discs that are dirty and have finger smudges or if the discs have scratches will also cause these errors. There are some common mechanical problems that will also cause disc reading problems which you can find in my tips and tricks, just click on the link to read more about them.
TRY THE FOLLOWING STEPS FIRST:
You can clean your dvd player two ways, manually or by using a dvd cleaning disc. The following link will provide you with detailed information for doing cleaning the optical lens. I would suggest that you use the cleaning disc because it is easier and much faster. You can also clean your dvd discs themselves using the information here.
I hope that this information helps you solve the problem and you get many more years of use from your device. I wish you all the best. Please let me know if you need further assistance and I will do my very best to help you.

If you would not mind, please rate my help. I would greatly appreciate it. Thank You.

Philips DVDR3370H; DVD stuck in tray and cannot get unit to release

Some types of Philips have a problem opening the tray, the magnet holding the disc at its place is to strong. There is a small hole at the underside where you can put a small pin in to open the tray. The fault usual occurs when there is no disc in the set.

Philips dvdr 3480 disc draw refuses to open

Illustration:
This usually happens when you close the drawer with no disc in it. There is a strong magnet inside the DVD-drive that keeps the spinning disc in the correct position. But when the drive is empty, the magnet is connected to tough to its counterpart (no disc in between) and the worn out motor and/or transmission (belt) is not able to pull them apart in order to open the disc tray.

How to fix - "brute-force-attack":
Press OPEN and give the disc draw a couple of decent slaps (or snap at the tray cover with your forefinger) until it opens. Repeat procedure, if motor stops before drawer is open.

How to fix - "high-tech-approach":
Disconnect power chord. Locate the slot provided at the bottom of the device, near the smaller, left clip holding the front panel. Insert a screwdriver into it at the far right (when viewing from the front), so you can push a small white plastic-lever-thingy (can be seen thru the slot) to the far left. Now the tray is partly opened and can be pulled out completely.

Future outlook:
Don't you never ever close your old machine with no disc in the tray - or just start over again...
