Either the CRT had a catastrophic failure, which is very rare unless it was dropped, the high voltage anode attached to the CRT fell off (easily fixed by a professional, and again really rare) or a component in the power supply failed. The latter can be repaired inexpensively by a TV shop, but a broken CRT is the end of your TV.

Carefully rock the TV back and forth with it unplugged, and/or turn it upside down and rock it just in case a foreign object fell through the top vent and caused a short.

Do not attempt to open a TV and work on it unless you know exactly what you are doing. There are high voltage capacitors that can seriously hurt if you touch the wrong thing.

    else try tis>>

I would try, first, the hard reset and whacking test:

RESET: Unplug the power cord for 4 hours.

WHACKING:  Smack the set all over with your hand or fist to see if that will reactivate a loose connection or cold solder joint and restore the color.

THEN:  Make sure you have a strong signal or that it is not a cable signal problem. If you have another set in the house, try that one on the same outlet just to make sure.

If no sucess, it will require a tech to go inside and snoop around until the problem is found.  Most likely in the color control/processor IC.  Replacing it will be expensive.

Can't turn on TV not on standby

Hi Dave,
You have not mentioned anything about the brand and model of your tv. Anyway, If your remote control is working and your tv is not turning on means either the main board is not supplying "power on" command to the power supply section or the power supply is receiving this command but not responding to it. Please consult some local TV tech to solve your problem.
Good luck.

My lg tv displays V3.10.1 an does not respond to manual or remote control

It is showing the software/firmware version--seems you may have by accident gotten into a place you should not be in---best answer is get LG on the phone with model number and the V3 information---I doubt anyone here will resolve this issue instantly.

Manual switch ok but remote not fundtion sharo tv

Be assured that fault does not lie with the remote handset itself. In that case repair or replace it.Remote control system has two parts. One is the remote hand set and the other lies within the TV or other device for which remote controller is being used. The hand set transmits commands in shape of singnals of particular frequency and pulses per second depending on the key pressed. The other part of the remote system lying within the TV receives, decodes and responds according to the commands received in shape of signals of particular frequency and pulses of paricular width and sequence. The remote controller uses invisible infra red light as the carrier of the signal. As the light moves in straight path, no obstacles should block straight line of sight path between the remote hand set (the transmitter) and IR sensor window (part of the receiver). Hence remove the blockage from the front side of the TV.Check if the IR sensor is not defective. Check if the associated circuit and components inside the TV are not defective.Check if the TV has any switch for selecting only manual mode and locking the remote mode.Hope, some sytematic exercise will bear the successful result.

My 40" toshiba tv nexxtech

Please let me know if this works for you! would love positive feedback! if this doesnt work let me know as well will continue to help

toshiba codes are 0159 0178 0109 0120 0181 0105 0049 0095 0170 0260 0358 0394 0924 0012 0095 0117 0141

an to reprogram it you have to follow these directions if found from an online manual for this model

Turn on the device you wish to program the remote to, point the remote at the device and press the key for that particular device (TV, etc.) on the Nexxtech remote. For TVs combined with a VCR or DVD player, use the "TV" key, and for VCR/DVD combination units, both "VCR" and "DVD" will need to be set up if your particular remote offers both.

  • 2 Locate the code (or possible codes) for your brand and type of device in the list supplied with your remote. Press and hold "P" until the display light blinks twice and then enter the first code. The display light will blink with each digit and blink twice if the code was accepted; repeat using the next code if it was not. Press "Power" once the code was accepted to see if the device responds by shutting off. Repeat the steps for all the codes listed under that brand name.
  • 3 Search for a code if none of the listed codes were accepted or if you do not have the list by pressing the appropriate device key, pressing and holding "P" until the display light blinks twice and pressing "9-9-1." Press "Power" to see if the device responds, and press "CH+" to try more codes if it does not. Press "P" again to lock in the code when successful.
  • 4 Point the remote at a programmed device, press the device key, press and hold "P" until the light blinks twice and enter "9-9-0" to learn the code for that device. Press "1" to see the code for the first digit; count the number of blinks on the display light and write down that number. If the number is 0, the light will not blink at all. Repeat for the next three digits by pressing the number key for that digit (2 through 4).
  • 5 Press "9-9-2" after pressing "P" to reassign a device key if, for example, you have two DVD players and no VCR and want to program the "VCR" setting to the second DVD player. In this example, follow "9-9-2" by pressing "DVD" and then "VCR", and then program in the code for that device.

    Dvd wont work.

First, is the DVD player output (Video out, audio out) connected to the TV input? Have you used the Yellow cable from  DVD video out to the TV video in? Mixing the audio and video cables will result in no signal. Have you selected the proper input with your TV remote control. Most plasmas accept a variety of input signals; you must select the right one. I deal with a number of these issues. Usually the connections are made improperly or the correct input source is not selected with the TV remote. Put a DVD in the player and press play. Be sure you have made the proper connection from DVD player video/audio out into an auxiliary or video input on the TV. These could be labeled Line 1 or Line 2.  With the DVD playing, run through the input options on your remote control. The button might be marked source, video or input. The screen should display your choices i.e. video 1, video 2, etc. When you see your DVD program, you've got the right combination.
