I'm not sure if this will help or if this is the same as i had but I had been given A laserjet 2820 which keep't coing up scanner error 5 the chap that had it before me contacted hp service & was told to replace scanner unit which he did & it was ok for a while like 6 months & started then started again.
The problem he had was powered up ok till it came to scanner bulb warming up the scanner unit moves back & forth then try's to escape through the right hand side of case.
This is because it cant see the home position white strip under the scanner glass all you have to do is remove top section of the scanner unit complete with scanner glass & clean the under part of the scanner glass the white strip is located under the wide gray panel as you look down on the scanner glass with the lid up. hope this is of some use. my unit has been working for some time now

I ran into this also. Kevin's solutions is one of many I have found. I also have found to simply check the small connectors on the scan bar as some times they vibrate loose over time. Remove them and re-seat them gently, being careful not to force them.

Error E221 shown

A E221 deals with the scaner unit. I believe you are working on a Canon copier? I'm not sure what model? Odds are the scanning lamp is not working correctly.. I would check the lamp & fuse to see if they are blown or it could also be the power cable for the scaner lamp..... Good Luck

How can i solve this E244 error code

A E244 error code deals with the scaner. When you turn the copier ON will the scanning lamp turn ON? If it dose and you make a copy and thhe scaner moves & start to make a copy and then codes out. The problem is the BLACK scaner power cable has a crack in the coatting and is arching out to the frame o the copier..... It is not a easy fix.... If the scaner lamp is not turning ON???? You may have a blown Lamp or thermal fuse.... You can still find these parts..... The code will not go away till the problem is fixed.. Good Luck

Step 1
Checks: Is the setting of
COPIER>ADJUST>V-CONT-M/C/
Y/K in service mode identical to the
settings recorded on the service label?

Yes/No: NO

Does LED1 on the potential
measurement PCB remain on
during potential control?

NO - Replace the potential sensor unit.
YES - Check the wiring from the
DC driver PC to the potential
sensor. Turn off and then on
the power switch; if the error
is indicated once again, go to
step 2.

Step 4: Pre-exposure lamp
Checks:
Does the pre-exposure lamp turn
on during copying operation?

NO - Check the wiring from
the DC driver PCB to
the pre-exposure lamp;

Minolta cspro 2080 having black copies

chek the scaner lamp(upper lamp ) if its working during copy other ways u have to take up the lamp and check it by oem meter , u have to check also the thermal fuse for that lamp on the same unit. I hope that will solve ur problem ,if not high voltage unit above the drume is damaged.
