Wacom Intuos 3 unintentional double click

I am using an Intuos 3 (PTZ-630/G) with WinXP Pro SP3, and I have recently been having a problem wherein a single-click on the tablet mouse registers as a double-click on my computer. It does not happen with every click, but it does happen very often. I have tried altering the double-click speed in Windows, but it has not changed anything.

I have the same problem with a Graphire4 tablet. I suspect the pen is broken.

  • jemimah Jan 18, 2009

    same here

I have the exact same problem... I think the pen tip is "bouncing" or something. Though, it doesn't always happen, so I don't know if it's a physical problem with the pen, or a software/driver issue.

  • swrathe Feb 19, 2009

This happens to me when I use the tablet mouse, but not the pen. Probably almost half of my clicks are registered as double clicks. It's very irritating. I've reinstalled the drivers numerous times, and it hasn't helped.

Juste the same here and the tablet is just a few months old!

  • Anonymous Mar 14, 2009

I noticed this happening on my desktop machine but oddly not my laptop. I suspect it's a driver problem and not a hardware issue, but I can't seem to fix it either.

  • Anonymous Mar 19, 2009

Just confirmation that I see the same problem. I've reinstalled the drivers twice with no change. I disassembled my mouse, blew out some loose hairs, and reassembled it, but no change.

Double click when I use the left click on the intuos 3 5 button mouse.

  • locoboy82 Apr 09, 2009

Same thing here using a Intuos 3 on OSx. And i'm having the same problem with another Intuos 3 on WinXP. (very frustrating when OSx opens 100 files (double click) when I only want to copy them using drag and drop)

  • Anonymous Apr 21, 2009

Single click with pen on tablet registers as double click on Win XP SP3. The pen click is configured to a single click in the tablet preferences.

  • Anonymous Apr 28, 2009

I have the same problem with an Intuous 3 on Mac OSX 10.4.

I've done all the usual: played with the settings, reinstalled drivers etc., but to no avail.

I'm beginning to suspect it's a hardware issue, but whether it's a hardware issue with the tablet, the pen the USB port, RAM, whatever, I don't know.

I am having the same issue on my Intel Mac running OS 10.5- it's really frustrating because it takes me twice as long to do something in Illustrator... Help!

  • Anonymous May 18, 2009

I am having the exact same issue. Intuos 3, Windows XP, only happens when using the mouse and the pen works fine.

I've been having the same problem and I think I just figured it out.

I'm using a Wacom Intuos 3 on Windows Vista. I think one of the Windows automatic updates caused this problem. I've just been putting up with it for way too long when I finally thought to check the driver.

I started by going to the control panel and typing in "mouse" in the search box. Then I clicked on "change mouse click settings". When I selected the "hardware" tab across the top I noticed that Wacom Mouse was not highlighted. I selected it and clicked on the "properties" button. I clicked on the "driver" tab across the top and clicked on the "driver details" button. Then I selected the wacommousefilter.sys driver and chose "ok". After that my double click problem has stopped.

You can also download the newest driver by going here: http://www.wacom.com/downloads/drivers.php

I hope this helps anyone still having this problem.

    THANK YOU!!

I am a graphic artist for a screen printing company and I've been searching for a solution to this intensely irritating problem for almost a year now. It has driven me to screaming profanities and slamming the mouse against the tablet in frustration on several occasions. It was so bad that I set my left and right bumpers to UNDO and REDO to deal with the mistakes made from unwanted mouse clicks. Uninstalling and reinstalling new and old drivers did nothing. I was ready to give up and buy a new laptop and tablet.

Thank you so much, this solution worked immediately and has saved my sanity and my savings account.

I had the same problem. I went here: http://www.beeldbuijs.nl/solutions/hardware/scrollwheel_adjustment.htm, followed the directions (only 1 screw on the bottom in the back for the Intuos 3), cleaned out the dust, works fine (for now)

Holy cow this one here did it for me! I've been fighting with drivers and updates for weeks now and never figured it could just be as simple as a cleaning. Dirt! Go figure!

Thanks for posting this solution, everyone talks about faulty drivers and bad updates, which could be the case, but in mine it was just cat hairs, lol! I just saved 90$ yeah!

Have you checked the driver settings to make sure a click doesn't register as a double click?

I did have an issue with a double clicking of the left mouse button.

My solution was to open the mouse and un solder, the right side button switch out. Thats it. The circuit has enough juice for the wheel and other 3 buttons to function properly now. I didnt use that button anyway.

If this doesnt work you can replace the button switch which isnt working with the one you just replaced. I am very happy now.

My mouse was double-clicking as well. I just solved the problem by taking my ZC-100 mouse apart. In addition to dirt on the bottom felt, there are two other reasons for problems: 1) A little plastic stop on the click button broke and was getting in the way. Removing it solved that problem and didn't affect operation. 2) Lint gets up in the roller mechanism.
To get at the insides, peel the felt off the bottom, then peal back the clear plastic under it to reach the single screw that holds it together. When the screw is removed, the bottom will separate from the top and you can get at the works. Clean the roller with a tooth brush and make sure there isn't a broken piece of plastic impeding the button. Reassemble. You can either replace the felt with a piece of cloth, contact glued on - or leave off the felt. It seems to work fine either way.
I figured this out, unfortunately, AFTER I bought a replacement on ebay.

Where can i get a wacom bamboo tablet?

You can buy them new from places like Amazon or directly from Wacom. Just to confuse you more-- it used to be Bamboo, Intuos, and Cintiq. Now the entry level tablets are the Intuos, the mid-level has become the Intuos Pro, and then the Cintiq.

How can i install intuos gd 0608-u on pc running windows8.0?

The first thing you have to do is upgrade your Windows from version 8.0 to 8.1. Version 8.0 just has too many bugs plus it shouldn't automatically update anymore Check this MS page out.

Install the latest Windows 8 1 Update Windows Help

Here are the bare bones manual installation steps from the page:
Install the update manually

Make sure your PC is plugged in and connected to the Internet using a non-metered connection. Don't disconnect, unplug, or turn off your PC while the update is being installed.

Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap
Settings, and then tap Change PC settings.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the lower-right
corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up,
click Settings, and then click Change PC
settings.)

Tap or click Update and recovery, and then tap or click
Windows Update.

Tap or click Check now.

If updates are found, tap or click View details.

In the list of updates, select the update containing
KB 2919355, and then tap or click Install.

If you're prompted for an administrator password or
confirmation, enter the password or provide
confirmation.

After the installation is complete, restart your PC and
sign in.

Note: If you don't see KB 2919355 in the list of available updates, you might be missing one or more required updates. Follow the previous steps to check for updates, install all important updates, particularly KB 2919442, restart your PC, and then check for KB 2919355 again.

Once you successfully update to Windows 8.1 we can tackle your Wacom products. There have been plenty of documented problems getting the Wacom Intuos Drivers working in Windows 8.x. Just google on "Wacom Intuos Driver Windows 8.1"

First get the latest Intuos driver version from the Wacom website.

I couldn't find any separate drivers for the Wacom mouse

Intuos 4 pen clicking while hovering

You may have an issue with the drivers. If you're using the drivers on the CD, try updating to the latest drivers:

http://cdn.wacom.com/U/drivers/IBMPC/pro/WacomTablet_635w3.exe

If you're using the latest drivers and the issue persists, try rolling back your drivers to the previous release:

Wacom Intuos 3 problems

Hi Bengref
Just talked to WACOM USA about a similar (but not exactly the same) problem with my Intuos 3. One of their procedures was;

go to the ALL Programs directory,

go to the the WACOM TABLET directory

open the WACOM Tablet Properties window

click on the "About" button

while holding down the CTRL key, click on the "Diagnose" button

click on the "recalibrate" button

Another procedure

go to the All Programs Directory

go to the WACOM Tablet Directory

click on the :WACOM Table Preference File Utility"

Under "My Preferences" click on remove

Good Luck

'Lag' or Trailing Line

I just did some more experimenting and it seems that if I replace the tip of the pen, it starts to react better, not great, but definitely better.

Again, I'm using an Intuos 3. On the Intuos 2 I was using, if I replaced the tip, it would improve, but I was going through tips every two months or so. That's why I bought the 3, thinking it would be better because I've never experienced this problem with my 3 at home (these problems are all happening at work). I'm not sure which tablet your have or if you have the spare tips that come with it, but that might be your solution.

Also, check your Wacom settings and make sure the "tip double click distance" is set to "Off". That should help a little.

Another forum post suggested not using the stylus stand or holder. It could...not sure that it actually does...damage the stylus tip so that it reacts as if pressure is being applied. My stylus at home is always in the stand and, since it does have this problem, makes me wonder if this is valid....but why chance it...different stands and different stylus.

Good luck and hope this helps!!!
