In the middle of the game, the TV hummed for 2 seconds and went black.
I unplugged the TV for 1 minute and plugged it in again - no power/black screen. The cable is on, and working, and the power outlet is fine, because my DVD player works fine. The rear of the TV says Model:32S22 Serial #: 8118902
Also, It says April 1998.
Is this repairable? Any advice? Cheers

Re: Screen went black and never ressurected
It is repairable.Open the TV and check the fuse and then the flyback transformer for any loose soldering. check for obvious burnt transisters, resistors, capacitors etc. the flyback is the component that has a wire to the picture screen on the inside of the TV. Be careful. Capacitors and picture tubes retain high current. If you don't know what your doing take it for repair.

The line is there because the vertical deflection unit - the one that spreads that line across the entire screen to form the image - has failed. Replacing it is a job for a professional, or at least an experienced amateur, and the parts will be quite difficult to find for such an old tv .
well u have that there because... he massed up the menu like in those tv's there is a option if u wana do 2 things at one time like watch the tv and play video game so basicly there is nothing wrong with thee tv.. u have to go through the menu to shut the second screen off.. its probbaly for video 1 or video 2..!! just go through the menu one more time and go on every option u can and u might find it..where it says u wana turn the video screen off
Your model has a maximum resolution of 720p. What you might want to do
is make sure that both your cable/sat box and game stations are
outputting at no more than 720 resolution. It's easy to assume that all
HDTVs may accept a higher signal, and while they might, some of the
scene changes or handshakes may make that operation cause the symptoms
A set that has only a 1/2 inch bright line through the middle of the picture, from left to right, has a vertical output IC that is not working correctly. If the 1/2 inch line is in the middle but going up and down, then the horizontal yoke circuit has stopped working. These are problems which should be looked at by a qualified tech, but if the set was purchased 6 months ago then it should still be under the manufacturer's warranty.
The horizontal output transistor drives a transformer that gives you the high voltage to light up the picture tube, either the transistor or the transformer have gone bad, sometimes both have to be replaced and sometimes the transistor fails for no reason by itself.Be safe and call for help if you are not familiar with tv service.
