Camera lens is broken and camera won't turn on.

The camera lens is sticking out even when the camera is off, and the camera itself will turn on for about 1 second then shuts off after making a clicking sound.

I had this problem as well, I left it lay for awhile, picked it up again and noticed that one side of the lense had been pushed in slightly making it so the camera couldn't retract the lense. I popped it back out, noise went away, and the camera has worked fine since. Hope this will help.

I had the exact same problem on a Nikon. Unfortunately, after having dealt directly with Nikon in Richmond BC, the cost of fixing it was greater than the cost of a new camera, even Nikon told me they'd recommend I just buy a new camera (and no, not selling me on other Nikon equipment, just a new camera in general). So I'd say you'll most likely have to buy a new camera. I know that's not what you wanted to hear, but its life unfortunately.  Good luck.

I have a Sony AX Digital 100 Camera. I used it yesterday and everything worked fine. Battery is fully charged. Tried to use it today and it won't start. I have taken the battery in and out and even...

Does there is something happened when you turn on the camera? If you can heard sound made by the len or the camera try to open but turn off in a second? If so, there is something wrong with the lens, and this how to fix camera lens error will be helpful. Else, if the camera are without any reaction you can check it the joint of the camera to battery is well.

I dropped my camera (only a few inches) and now the lens won't open when I turn it on. How can I get this fixed?

A lens go in & out by using guide line. We called that part is LENS Guider/pin.
After drop down the camera the pin is damaged or the lens is out of guide line.
That's why it was stuck out side. But some how its go in and stuck again. With
out replacing the lens if you try to repair it then there is 99% chance of facing
same problem after few days. Cost near about the same like a new lens. Even if you
campier with new camera then a new lens + repair charges total cost near about a new
camera. If you have a luck any time that, if the lens came out again and not going in
then just give a light twist on the lens and try to on / off the camera. Some time it
will start working, if the pin not broken. But your symptom says that its broken. Thats
why its not came out. By the way watch the link for new lens & a video for how to replace
the lens. If you have a little knowledge about the electronic then you can take the chance
for replacing. But its on your won risk.

What does lens error mean

With all digital cameras this means that something is wrong with the lens system or lens itself.

The following may damage the lens even further, but if it is not working, may be worth a try.
Try to push or pull the lens as you turn on the camera.
Try to push the lens in with it off, if it appears to be out or at an angle.
Try: If the lens is out and at an angle you may try this... Put a soft folded cloth such as a towel on a table or bench flat on the surface. Now take the camera and "bump" the lens straight on to the cloth. This may un-stick a stuck lens.

If none of these things will help the problem, then you may consider to sell the camera for parts, repair or as is on such sites a Ebay.
